Correspondent Nick Bogert of NBC-Channel 6 is preparing a report on why the survival of daily newspapers are important to the civic life of South Florida.

Bogert’s story is expected to be on the 6 p.m. news tonight, December 31, the 20th anniversary of the death of The Miami News.

The idea for the Channel 6 story was generated by a December 28 blog entry on Browardbeat.com, Bogert said.
