Former State Senator Steve Geller outraised County Commissioner Sue Gunzburger in the last quarter of 2009.
It is unusual that a challenger raises more money than an incumbent. Geller’s success raising money means that many in the political, lobbying and business community believe he has a chance to beat Gunzburger.

Longtime powerbroker and political kingmaker Hamilton Forman died last night.
Funeral arrangements are not planned yet.
Forman had been bedridden for several months before his death. He was in his early 90s.
It is hard to underestimate Forman’s influence on Broward in the past seven decades. His imprint stretches from the route of Florida’s Turnpike to the creation of the North Broward Hospital District.
