Weinstein Is New Chief Judge
BY BUDDY NEVINS
Judge Peter Weinstein, a former state senator and all-around nice guy, was elected by his colleagues the new chief judge today.
Here is an earlier post for some background on the new chief judge.
Congrats, Peter.
Weinstein campaigned among his fellow judges emphasizing his connections with the political world, important when seeking help for the judiciary. Here he is swearing in County Commissioner Stacy Ritter.

Great choice … he will do an outstanding job.

He has his work cut out for him. He will have to keep his eye on Ritter and his other friends on the county commission so they fulfill their promise to build a new courthouse without wasting money in political favors.
I wish him the best.

Smart move given what’s going on with the courthouse. He understands how to deal with that issue.

That was a very GOOD DECISION… He knows what he’s doing after all these years too.

Judge Weinstein was a great State Senator and Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He has a well deserved reputation for two things:
he is a man of great political and judicial integrity and he is a great story teller…both will serve him well as our Chief Judge.

Judge Weinstein’s integrity is what is needed right now in Broward. We may be looking to him to bring some calmness and judicial temperament to a very discombobulated judicial system.
