U. S. Rep. Lois Frankel Gets An Opponent

Freshman U. S. Rep. Lois Frankel has picked up an opponent — Andrea Leigh McGee, lifelong Pompano Beach resident and a Republican.
Running for the first time, McGee is taking on Frankel, a first-term Democratic member of Congress who represents northeast Broward and portions of Palm Beach County. Frankel is also the former mayor of West Palm Beach and a former state representative.
McGee said she had not talked to anybody from the Florida Republican Party and was not encouraged to run by them.
Another Republican, David Wagie of Palm Beach County, is running for U. S. House District 22 and even has a campaign website. A kitchen and bathroom remodeler who operates under the name Faith Builders, Wagie filed papers to open his campaign in December.
A Republican political consultant has been making the rounds in Broward and Palm Beach looking for a candidate to challenge Frankel. He has been turned down by at least two well-known Republican office holders.
McGee is an artist and CEO of a company called Drunken Mermaid. The name is enough to get her votes in some quarters of Fort Lauderdale, but it is not as salacious as it might appear.
The name is for some of the art she creates — liquor bottles she fills with beach sand.
She’s the daughter of long-time, well-known Broward criminal defense attorney Ed McGee, whose law practice is in the same offices as Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler.
After this last election, Andrea McGee said she decided to get more involved in politics. Upset with the choice of candidates and the outcome of the elections, she came to this realization:
“It’s time for my generation.”
The 30-year-old McGee is less than half the age of Frankel, who is 65. Whether that will help McGee overcome Frankel’s incumbency, which comes with an ability to raise a lot of money, remains to be seen.
“It’s going to be a big job. A big job. But I’ve made movies with zero budgets and got it done,” said McGee, who has a master’s in fine arts in movie production from the University of Miami. “I believe this can be done,”

Everyone I speak with has been very impressed with Lois Frankel in her job as Congresswoman. She is helping to produce some good results in her job on the transportation and infrastructure Committee, which is extremely important to Broward County, and has been very responsive to her stakeholders. Perhaps Ms McGee should set more realistic and attainable goals for herself.

Frankel recently voted “No” on the Amash amendment to rein in the NSA’s spying on the email, phone calls, etc. of American citizens – without a search warrant.
What does Andrea McGee have to say?

Just to clarify for those unfamiliar with the issue, Frankel voted to let the NSA keep right on spying on the communications of American citizens without a search warrant.

Ms. Wexler is in the minority party in the house. It looks likes she will be in the minority for the forseeable future.
Ms. McGee would be in the majority party if elected to the house.
It seems rather clear who could bring home more of the bacon between the two.

Don’t count her out because of her lack of experience. Count her out because it is a Democratic district. Btw-Patrick Murphy also was just a well connected newcomer when he ran thanks to Daddy and look how that turned out.

Wexler has done 0 as a freshmen congressperson. We should keep her why??? Because she’s been sucking at the public teat for so long.

Anonymous is clearly from the newly declared candidate. Sweetheart, you are going to be running against Congresswoman Lois Frankel. She is a life long politician, can raise millions of dollars in the blink of an eye and is going to wipe the floor with you. Oh, and your district is cut with + democrats. Why do you think no other qualified republican was willing run?

Congratulations Ms. McGee,
I hope you win. God knows that the Democrats and their big incompetent federal government policies are spending money stupidly. This is money our children have to pay back. It is just insane!
