The Broward County Mayor And Snoop Dogg
BY BUDDY NEVINS
I don’t know if they shared a Fatty, but there were smiles all around on Sunday when Broward Mayor Marty Kiar hung out with Snoop Dogg.
A multi-platinum artist, Snoop Dogg often has rapped about the joys of smoking a large marijuana cigarette, also know as a Fatty.

The occasion: Youth Football National Game of the Week between Snoop Dogg’s Pomona Steelers versus Flo Rida’s Fort Lauderdale Hurricanes at Pembroke Pines Charter School’s field. The game was streamed live on Generation Nexxt, an Internet service that bills itself as the ESPN of youth sports.
Kiar got together with the two top rappers, a perk of being mayor.
“Snoop Dogg and Flo Rida make a positive difference by sponsoring youth football teams and leagues,” Kiar said.
It is clear from an Instagram video that Snoop Dogg really didn’t know who Kiar was, but the singer was gracious to a fault.
Meeting famous folks like Snoop Dogg is a perk of being Broward mayor that Kiar will have to give up when Broward County Commissioners choose a colleague to be the next mayor in November.
Kiar was elected Broward Property Appraiser. He will be sworn in to that post in January and quickly discover that few famous people care to meet the property appraiser, unless they are contesting the valuation of their property.

I have a feeling that life as Broward County Property Appraiser will be somewhat dull for Marty Kiar after having held the honorary position as Mayor of Broward County. Wish Mayor Kiar much good luck in his job next year as our new Property Appraiser.

Thank you Buddy for writing the story. I really enjoyed meeting Snoop Dogg. I was impressed by the fact that he genuinely cared about the kids who were playing football last night and you could tell that they all looked up to him. My favorite celebrities are folks who use their star power to make a positive difference in peoples’ lives. He was also very humble and treated every single person he met with respect. I was very honored to have had the opportunity to meet him. Unfortunately, I did not get the opportunity to meet Flo Rida as he wasn’t able to attend last night’s game, but he also deserves tremendous credit for the great work that he does for our South Florida community. Have a great week Buddy.

Did you really define the phrase “fatty”?
What’s next? A guest spot on UrbanDictionary?
Also, just how old is your demo … that needed that bit of help?

Maybe twisting up and burning a FatOne will help Marty…

Kiar has always been low class and this just proves it once again.
Yes rappers are what minority kids need NOT SCIENTISTS SCHOLARS INVENTORS ENGINEERS FINANCIERS!
Tell me HAS ANY PAST PRESENT or FUTURE BROWARD COUNTY COMMISSIONER EVER READ A BOOK? They are such cultural educational scientific illiterates they would have trouble reading a Superman comic of the 50s.

Hanging with a gang banger drug dealer. What a role model. Nice job.

M. Kiar:
“I was impressed by the fact that he genuinely cared about the kids who were playing football last night and you could tell that they all looked up to him. My favorite celebrities are folks who use their star power to make a positive difference in peoples’ lives. He was also very humble and treated every single person he met with respect.”
Mr. Kiar
With all due respect, I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you have never read the lyrics to the Snoop Dogg song:
“Ain’t no Fun” (If the Homie’s Can’t have None)
Out of respect, I just can’t bring myself to attach the lyrics to this post myself.
Please, read the lyrics. Read them twice if you need to.
Hopefully, you will redefine your definition of a role model for our children.

@9 – Hollywood director Stanley Kubrick and many others have made controversial art (see, for example, A Clockwork Orange) too. So I suppose Snoop Dogg must now be guilty of “artistry while black”…
I for one appreciate Mayor Kiar’s keen ability to easily understand the difference between fictional artistic creations and real-life acts of charity and compassion.
