State Rep. Gwendolyn Clarke-Reed Jumps Into Crowded Beachfront Senate Race

The campaign for an open state Senate seat representing Broward County’s beach just got more crowded.
State Rep. Gwyndolen “Gwyn” Clarke-Reed this month moved her campaign from Senate District 31 to District 34 in the wake of the December redistricting decision.

District 34 already has two Democrats running — former St. Rep. Jim Waldman and trial lawyer Gary Farmer.
The District includes much of Broward County coast, shifting westward in Deerfield Beach and in Hollywood. Some of those Deerfield Beach precincts to the west of the beach are Clarke-Reed’s base from the time she served on the City Commission.
At the present time, Clarke-Reed is the only woman and the only African American in the race.
Before switching districts, Clarke-Reed was running for state Senate against another veteran African-American — former House Democratic Leader Perry Thurston. Thurston is now running alone in District 31 that covers central Broward.
Waldman was mayor of Coconut Creek before serving eight years in the House. Farmer is a plaintiff’s attorney representing people who have been wronged by big corporations.
Political observers believe the candidates and various political action committees will spend several million dollars in the campaign.

What possible RATIONALE reason would there be for millions to be spent on a DEMOCRATIC STATE SENATORIAL RACE when the Republicans control the State Senate? Only vanity or some scheme to be an overpaid lobbyist when you are THANKFULLY term limited.
And remember STATE REPRESENTATIVES and SENATORS ARE ONLY PARTTIME NOBS!

getting the years in for that pension.
probably comes with an operating budget, and staff salaries paid, maybe even medical insurance (obamakare), etc. if she made 100k a year in private sector she wouldn’t do it. How old is she?
and a little bit of ‘perceived power’ in your ‘district’.

Oh, PUH-LEASE!!! Is that the best argument you have against Ms. Clark-Reed? She’s seeking a pension? She’s a retired school teacher. As for her support for Charter Schools in the district she represented, Broward County Schools have failed to provide safe schools and failed to educate students to even pass state tests in Deerfield Beach and Pompano Beach. Rep. Waldman kids went to North Broward Prep (tuition started at $10k a year back then)
What relatable adversities have Rep. Waldman or Mr. Farmer faced in their privileged male lives? Passing the bar exam, so the can milk their six-figure incomes from their clients?
Why do two lawyers, who make over $200k a year run for a State Senate seat which pays under $40k? Altruistic answer: To give back/improve the lives of others/make a difference/ yada, yada, yada! Truthful answer: I got mine and I want more/My donors got theirs and they want more/My wife wants a beachfront condo!

I would love to have a Federal and State Laws to mandate Publication of All Pensions so that we knew how much Pension Money is paid out to thw “so called” community activists land perpetually employed elected and appointed officials especially here in Florida.
At 70 I am old enough to know civil service pensions were intended for a non elected officials career until they retired not with multiple retirements. As for elected officials at municipal county n state levels these were and are parttime jobs and there pensions were to be nominal and like their salaries NOT TO BE SUBSTANTIAL as they apparently have become.

Gee # 1, 5, 8, (wait)#11. Correction in order it was not you that stated Judy Stern an d th e Honey Boo Boo comment-it was someone that used your name in their blog title(count). Also there Mr.Count got a very concerning phone call about you yesterday first they pointed out that it wasn’t you w/ the Honey Boo crap but hold on they were noooo fan of yours. They stated to me that you really got on some of th ebeach people’s nerves w/ the Bahia Mar hearings etc. They think you are lying (their words , not mine) that they don’t believe you worked for Donald Trump for 30 yrs(wait)….
