Stacy Ritter Tries To Rehabilitate Herself

I went back to college today courtesy of County Commissioner Stacy Ritter.

Ritter is making a valiant effort to make an end run around the relentless media attacks on her.  She has begun posting videos on YouTube to reach voters directly.

A great idea.  She’s articulate and good looking. She doesn’t appear anything like she has been portrayed in the media — the Wicked Witch of the West.

Unfortunately, if the videos are like the one posted today nobody will be watching.  Not only is it way toooo long — more than 18 minutes — but was turned into a history lesson by Dr. Robert Watson of Lynn University.

The video’s subject was civility in the media.

I would have loved to hear Ritter talk about this subject.  After all, she has been excoriated in the media for two years running. She believes the stories have been unfair.

It would have been interesting to hear Ritter discuss how she felt about being Broward’s political piñata.

Instead, we got Watson delving into the Founding Fathers.  Fascinating stuff, especially for a history buff like me. But this video is supposed to repair Ritter’s image, not showcase Watson.

I say more Ritter and less Watson.

Talking heads like Watson can’t rehabilitate Ritter’s image.  Only Ritter can.

She shouldn’t waste her time trying to fix what her and her husband broke. If people continue to close their eyes, cover their ears , and shut their mouths she might have a chance to win people over.

The greatest thing about history is once you learn you never forget.

“She’s articulate and good looking”…Golly Gee!!! That should appeal to all the guys out there. What about her ETHICS???? What about the use of her campaign funds??? What about the golf cart, the 5 star restaurants, the expenses subsequent to her being unopposed??? What about MY tax dollars being used to pay Norma Goldstein, who stated that she didn’t do any of the things that Ms Ritter said she was doing?? What about prosecuting her father,
instead of taking advantage of the Baker Act provisions?? Great, Stacy, try a little rehabilitation. Use the “cute, good-looking” factor. Fritter away the tax dollars of all those people who think that you’re just like their daughter, or granddaughter. I sure hope that they’re not like you.

Professor Watson may correct me, but I don’t think George Washington ever accepted the gift of a golf cart from developers.

  4. Stacy Ritter says:

I never accepted a golf cart. Geez, don’t you people ever read anything besides the fake stories on the Internet? Is your favorite expression “I read it on the web, it must be true?”
Washington was called a war profiteer by his enemies. There were haters back then
too, some anonymous just like today, spreading lies and misinformation. It goes with the territory. The difference is it’s widely disseminated these days and once it goes viral, you can’t stop it.
As my wise and wonderful 22 year old son, Matt, likes to say: even Lebron has haters.

  5. Broward Lawyer says:

Commissioner Ritter has helped me and many of her constituents. It’s unfortunate the Sara Palin fans have put a target on her. She’s fine and will continue to be.
All the best to you Commissioner.

Am I wrong, or is Stacy Ritter now comparing herself to George Washington?
    Did Washington even play golf?

  7. Fast Eddie says:

Stacy Ritter should retire because she has been in office too long. Let somebody else try.

  8. Senator John Blutarsky says:

@Broward Lawyer: are you f@#%ing crazy? I would hardly call Bob Norman, Brittany Wallman, Brenda Chalifor et al, Sara (sic) Palin supporters. Give it a rest, dolt. I am often impressed with Stacy’s rationality when she’s on the dais, it’s the irrationality off the dais that will be her downfall.

  9. Nicholas Steffens says:

@Senator – I don’t think Brittany has put a bulls eye on Stacey. The other two are a different story, for sure.

Also, there are a fair amount of Democrats upset with some of Stacy’s actions. Fair or not, this is not an issue where only tea party members or what have you are upset at someone. Not saying anyone here is right or wrong, but rather it seems to be independent of political perspective. Just a simple fact.

Not only does the Sun-Sentinel reporter Wallman and the New Times Norman share stories. They are married! Does anybody believe that they don’t talk about their work at home? Read their stories. They both are biased towards Ritter. They write lots about her with no proof. Two peas in a pod.

  11. The Seer says:

Stacy Ritter has not been convicted of anything and is innocent. Still, the media predicts she will be indicted any day and we’re still waiting so maybe all of this is just the fantasies of bloggers.
