Ritter To Run For Congress

BY BUDDY NEVINS

Broward Mayor Stacy Ritter has decided to run for Congress, according to three sources.

Ritter will run for the Congressional seat being given up by U. S. Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Boca Raton.

The mayor earlier told the Sun-Sentinel she would “definitely consider running.

“Absolutely, she continued. “We represent much of the same area in Broward County. It’s definitely something I would sit down and talk to my closest advisers about.

Ritter was one of President Barack Obama’s early supporters in Florida and became the Broward chair of the Obama for America campaign.

She is media savvy and had her own radio talk show for years, featuring Democratic commentary on events of the day.

Ritter has a solid record of activism in the Jewish community, which won’t hurt in the heavily Jewish Democratic primary.

Despite all of this, she is no shoe-in.

The U. S. House District is an uphill battle for any Broward candidate. The majority of the votes are in Palm Beach County.

She cast thousands of votes in Tallahassee and Broward.  I’m sure some will come back to haunt her.

Her husband, lobbyist Russ Klenet, is constantly in the media because he once worked for Mutual Benefits, an insurance company that turned out to be a massive Ponzi scam.

And there is a question in my mind whether she can raise the kind of money it takes to run a congressional campaign.

On a personal note, I first met Ritter around 1996.   She was an attractive female who had a great campaign gimmick —  rollerblading door-to-door in hot pants.

As a heterosexual male, I eagerly found ways to cover every aspect of her campaign!

I discovered she was much more than just a babe.

Ritter’s extremely bright and fast on her feet. Most of all, she’s a terrific campaigner which will serve her well in this congressional race.

I think Senator Nan Rich would make a much better representative for us in Congress. She has much more class and ethics and is not involved with a federal investigation for taking hundreds of thousands to decorate her house from a ponzi scheme that her husband represents.

FROM BUDDY: Nan Rich would make a great candidate.

You are really missing what is going on here. How do you think Stacy will run for Congress from her jail cell? Next you are going to say Kraft is running for County Commission. Maybe they can have a combined fundraiser from Cell 8.

FROM BUDDY: She’s running. I reported it.
I’m not missing anything. I mentioned the controversy. I see media speculation, but so far nothing from the authorities.
The allegations about her actually makes her campaign a more interesting story.
On your comment about running from a jail cell: Do you really think somebody is going to be charged, tried and jailed within approximately three months?

  3. Democrat says:

Stacy Ritter should continue her career and not worry about bloggers who are too gutless to sign their names to mindless comments. You go gal!

  4. Criswell says:

I predict: Ben Graber will run for the Congressional seat.

I predict: Jared Moskowitz will run for the County Commission seat.

  5. Chaz Stevens says:

    @ Democrat…

Didn’t you just do the same thing?

  6. To Criswell says:

Jared Moskowitz is a joke. He has ridden on his father’s coattail so far. He has never had a real job. Maybe his father will go to Washington so he can tell Baby Jared how to vote.

  7. Coolio says:

Despite all of this, she is no shoe-in.

Could that be because she’s married to a notorious loafer?

  8. MICHAEL ANGELO says:

Hell, she’s more than qualified as an arrogant self-serving crook, who will be facing a Federal indictment based upon Joel Steinger’s cooperation with the Feds. Is she really that stupid or is she that ignorant that the Feds can indict her and her husband on a multitude of Honest Services Fraud? Or does she possess the John Gotti syndrome of being the Tifflon Dona?
