Sheriff Israel: $247k For Re-Election & No Opponent

Sheriff Scott Israel has raised $247,454 for his re-election and he doesn’t even have an opponent yet.

In financial reports through the end of March, Israel’s campaign has raised $73,895. His Citizens for Effective Law Enforcement political committee based in Tallahassee raised another $173,559.

Rumors continue to fly that former Sheriff Al Lamberti will challenge the sheriff. Israel, a Democrat, became sheriff in 2016 by beating the Republican Lamberti.

There was talk that Lamberti would switch from the Republican to Democratic Party to run again. That is unlikely, since a Lamberti candidacy would be largely shunned by party activists and voters. Democrats appear happy with Israel.

Also sniffing around the edges of the campaign is Louis “Louie” Granteed, a former Hollywood Police administrator who was beaten by Israel 67-33 percent in the 2012 Democratic primary. Granteed attended the huge fundraiser at Property Appraiser Lori Parrish’s home last Sunday, where he was noncommittal about a future race.

Israel’s latest fund raising reports are an indication of how tough it will be for Lamberti, Granteed or anyone to challenge the sheriff’s re-election next year. At the very least, any opponent would have a lot of catching up to do.

Hmmm anyone ever wonder why the Sheriff never sued or investigated who was behind that infamous video of the woman claiming she had an affair with Isreal right before the election?

I highly doubt that the Sheriff will have no opponent, whether actual or a shill. I would be surprised if his campaign team would leave big bucks in the bank unused.

  2. City Activist Robert Walsh says:

I will tell you one thing this Sheriff better do a better job supervising Pompano Bch. A real mess. Deputies taken 2hr. lunch/supper breaks. Letting the homeless basicly do whatever they want, because they don’t want to deal w/ them/ . Slumlords not taken care of their property etc. To moon lighting(Pink Pony)and acting like thugs w/ a badge. Just tip of iceberg. This “Captain Marks” who is the top cop over there has his work cut out for him. They suck….

  3. Scott R. says:

For all of his generous help, Al Lamberti will always have my support!

  4. Mordecai Jones says:

This Sheriff is the best this county has seen in a long time. Lamberti is a loser in every sense of the word.

As far as an opponent is concerned, well, that’s why they are called elections. Israel has done an excellent job and his track record will speak for itself.

To the voting public I say, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. If you’re voting for your party well, in this race, a snowball would have a better chance of staying cold in hell than voting Rebumlican!

  5. Lamberti is a Criminal says:

I can’t run….I have a bad back (and lot of skeletons the Famous But Incompetent know about). Does anyone really, truly believe that Dirty Lamberti would have a snowballs chance in he11 to win a legitimate race? Charlie gave it to him at first, he manipulated the actual election, and whne everyone saw him for the fraud he was, they elected him Civilian. Go away Al. Stay away Louie. If a really qualified candidate appears, they should give Israel a run.

And what do these contributors to am unopposed elected official want in return? This isn’t about the sheriff its who contributes and why

  7. Talks like a politician says:

Dania Beach is still a mess with drug dealers and hookers continuing to make money off clients. This activity has gone on for decades while some of the same old politicians get reelected time after time. One of the players on the dais unleashed a diatribe against the Sheriff’s representative at a commission meeting last Tuesday. She, the player, wanted to know why the Sheriff’s department has not closed down some drug houses on her street. Doesn’t that action start with the players?

  8. Sam The Sham says:

@One way or another – The reason Israel never looked into the infamous video is that it originated in his camp via Roger Stone.

  9. PFLA says:

I love all the Lamberti speculation, driven to pile cash Israels PAC and campaign

  10. Just Saying says:

Israel had nothing to do with that video, Sam. Israel tried to track it down, and ultimately was able to identify the source (as I’ve heard now from several people): a Lamberti captain at BSO that Israel fired when he came into office.

  11. Why it wasn't lamberti says:

Lambeti didn’t have anyone around him smart enough to pull off that video. Amy Rose couldn’t have Pulled off a Gunzberger and Stone are campaign geniuses and were smart enough to see in a neck a neck race at the wire this move could bring victory.

Israel never looked into this. He won w

  12. Sam The Sham says:

    # 10 – OK, I did not hear that. Maybe, but if Israel did not name the captain, I doubt the veracity of that rumor.

  13. Lamberti is a Criminal says:

    Ok…so name that Captain.
