Satz’s Loss Celebrated By His Assistant

 BY BUDDY NEVINS

Does state Rep. Ari Porth, D- Coral Springs, like his job?

Maybe not, because Porth showed up at a party earlier this week being held to celebrate a courtroom defeat suffered by his boss State attorney Mike Satz.

Porth’s is an assistant state attorney working for Satz in addition to being a state House member!

Porth With Boccard At Wings Plus

Porth was with Coral Springs Commissioners Vince Boccard and Tom Powers at their victory party after Sunshine Law violation charges were tossed out by Judge Fred Berman.

The dismissed case was a defeat for Satz.

Why was Porth celebrating?

“Not celebrating, just moving on. I have been personal friends with Tom, Vince and their families long before any allegations were made,  Porth e-mailed me.

How do you spell poor judgement?

  2. oldtimer says:

I spell poor judgement two ways: Getting on a Conga Line and dancing to their victory outside Satz’s offic door. Second definition of poor judgement was Satz’s paralysis when it came to corruption busting until the FBI made him look like a fool. Maybe even a third definition… Satz’s overreacting in some cases to prove he’s not a schmuck.

  3. Another Voice says:

    Porth is a schmuck

  4. knowledge says:

He is a Charlie Crist man. That should help him in Kingspoint Tamarac, should he want to run in the future.

  5. City Activist Robert Walsh says:

These 2 Politicians got lucky in plain english. The Judge should have let the Jury hear the case and let the Jury decide. And for there Attorney to criticize the State Att. for basiclly doing his job and by being an Officer of The Court was wrong to bad mouth ATT. Satz. Let this be a lesson to all that this type of behavior will not be tolerated. Play by the rules guys.

  6. Brad Thomlonson says:

This is the biggest non story I have seen on the site in a long time… Buddy, slow news day? give me a break

  7. Andy says:

Another embarrassment for the incompetent Mr. Satz. Things are so bad for him even his lapdogs like Porth are turning away from him. This is a very big story. Thank you

  8. Justice says:

Why wouldn’t anyone celebrate the tossing of charges against 2 innocent men? That is indeed something that anyone should celebrate.

  9. sunny skies shady people says:

    you can’t loose them all

  10. Poroit says:

Is Kevin Kulik running against Satz?

  11. Las Olas Law says:

    To Poroit at 7:41 p.m.
Yes, Kevin Kulik and Jaablog Bill Gelin have a goal to capture the state attorney’s office for the defense bar. The two of them are partners in crime. If they had their way all the criminals will be on the street.
Satz fights against street crime every day and these defense attorneys like Kulik and Gelin don’t like it so they are trying to force him out of office.

  12. Aap says:

I’ve heard several different rumors about potential Satz primary opponents for 2012: a sitting judge (I wont name him), Public Defender Howard Finkelstein, and even a prominent (and vicious) attorney/campaign manager.

FROM BUDDY: Howard Finkelstein told me that he has absolutely no interest in running for state attorney.

  13. Noah Webster says:

I love your site Buddy, but this cracks me up.

“How do you spell poor judgement?”

    I spell it JUDGMENT.

FROM BUDDY: Either use is acceptable.

    Judgement – Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster …1 a : a formal utterance of an authoritative opinion b : an opinion so pronounced 2 a : a formal decision given by a court b (1) : an obligation (as a debt) …

“How do you spell poor judgement?”

Ironic. How about leaving the first “e” out of the word “judgement”?

    aap, Seidman, Howard and Gunsberger?

  16. Obamarama says:

I can spell “poor judgement” very well; it’s something like ” B-R-O-W-A-R-D B-E-A-T.” Once again, The Nevins crew feels the need to make a stink out of nothing. Yes, Porth works in the State Attorney’s Office while serving as a member of the legislature; however, drawing tenuous links does not serve to inform us about the real issues during a critical election year for Florida. Is one no longer allowed to have a social life and friends because one has a political life as well? I was not aware these were two, mutually-exclusive concepts.

  17. Reverse racism in Broward says:

Talk about poor judgment. How about Judge Gillespie.

Gillespie’s campaign treasurer is David Bogenschutz, who practices in front of Gillespie and who has raised Gillespie over $85,000.00 for his reelection campaign.

One of Bogenschutz’ cases before Gillespie was involved a foreign national charged with vehicular homicide. The client was looking at 15 years in prison.

Gillespie, at Bogenschutz’request restored the passport of the a foreign national (the passport had been taken as a condition for bail) and gave the foreign national written permission to travel to Thailand for six weeks upon Bogenschutz’ assurance that the the foreign national would timely return to the United Statates for trial. Of course, the individual did not return and is now a fugitive from justice.

How naive can you be. Anyone living in the real world would know that if you resotre a passport to a foreign national who is looking at a lengthy prison sentence, the person is not going to come back. Do we want someone who is this stupid sitting on the banch? I think not. What do you think Buddy?

  18. Bob Adams says:

It’s not called poor judgement; it’s called being HONEST! Ari Porth has always been true to his principles. It doesn’t matter who he works for!

  19. Porth? says:

Just what does Ari Porth do for Mike Satz?

  20. disenchanted says:

mike wont let his assistants run for anything but porth, and he has in all justice a no show do nothing job, who ou t there knows the real story behind this, there must be one.

  21. Janee says:

Satz is scared out of his mind about the election

  22. Melissa Vaughan says:

    The word is spelled, JUDGMENT.

    FROM BUDDY:

Either way is used extensively, although I concede the Associated Press Style Book suggested using it without an “e” after the “g”.

This from today’s NY Times –MIAMI (Reuters) – The world’s No. 1 golfer, Tiger Woods, and his Swedish wife, Elin Nordegren, divorced on Monday following the torrid sex scandal that engulfed Woods late last year.
Woods, reputed to be the world’s wealthiest sports star, and Nordegren, a former model and nanny, issued a statement confirming the divorce, which had been widely anticipated for months after his public confession of infidelity in a blaze of publicity.
The couple were at the Bay County Circuit Court in Florida when their marriage was dissolved.
“The marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken,” read a court document published by the celebrity website TMZ.
The joint statement by Woods and Nordegren through their lawyers made no mention of any monetary settlement involved in the divorce and the attorneys declined to comment on the existence of any such settlement.
The statement said the divorce judgement provided for shared custody of their two young children and asked for privacy for the family.
