Ever had a notion that there is racial factor in the enforcement of drug laws? The ACLU study that was released this month makes that certain.
Entitled The War On Marijuana In Black and White, it makes clear that racial differences in drug arrests are bad and getting worse.
It starts out with noting that the rates of marijuana use are about the same for Blacks and Whites. That’s where the similarities end.
Nationwide, the ACLU found between 2001 and 2010 was that blacks were 3.73 times more likely to be busted for pot arrests.
“Between 2001 and 2010, there were over 7 million arrests (7,295,880) for marijuana possession. In 2010 alone, of the 1,717,064 drug arrests in America, over three-quarters of a million — 784,021 — were for marijuana possession….That’s one bust every 37 seconds and hundreds of thousands ensnared in the criminal justice system.”
What a waste of money!

According to the ACLU in numbers cited by the Palm Beach Post, Broward County had 3.7 times more blacks per capita charged with marijuana possession than white.
The number in Miami-Dade was 5.4 times and in Palm Beach County 4.8 times.
If you are a Black in South Florida it means that, when compared to Whites, you are more than 4 times as likely to get arrested for pot possession.
So what’s a pot smoker to do? If you’re White I have a suggestion for you. [If you’re Black go to some other website.]
Ok? Only White people reading this now? So, here’s the suggestion: Quit smoking with your Black friends.
I am sure the police will be indignant when you suggest that this disparity in the numbers is racism. I believe them. So the only explanation left is that Black people are incredibly unlucky when it comes to firing up a doobie. Don’t wanna be around those types. It can only spill over on to you.
Seth Rogan makes movies promoting his pot use. He freely discusses his pot use on every media outlet from Howard Stern to NPR. Never been busted.
Meanwhile Queen Latifah, Method Man, Bob Marley, Randy Moss, Ja Rule, Thurman Thomas, Dionne Warwick, etc….busted, busted and busted. And, unlike your Black friends, they are rich and famous and it still didn’t help them.
The message is clear, my Caucasian cousins. When you are going to fire up a fat one…keep it in the tribe.

Maybe its where people smoke a joint and get high that contributes to the bust disparity?
Like in your living room with windows closed and A/C on just hanging out. (No cops) Versus driving around in a car with windows down and music blasting. Or in your subsidized apartment with windows and door open, music or tV blasting, others observing you or smelling the activity. Or standing on the street or elsewhere in public blowing a joint. Or selling while you are smoking your merchandise. More visible, cops may drive by, someone may squeal, security cameras catch it, etc., etc.
If it is not medical use, and then illegal, why do it out in public whee you risk getting busted and have cops take your stuff for their own use?

All ya gotta do is look at the mugshots that the local paper runs every morning. All the young folks getting popped for “20 grams or less of marijuana” are black.

If you’re white and you get popped with 20 grams or less, you get a ticket that’s a notice to appear. If you’re black, you get arrested. It sucks, but that’s the way it is and always has been in Broward County.

Last I heard possessing marijuana is illegal. if you want to engage in illegal activites, i.e. getting high, which the cops should not be bothered with anyway given all the other cime around here, then stay the hell out of sight (but they have quotas to make and some are easier pickings than ohers)
You will have a better high and be ‘free’ to enjoy it
