Parrish Would Consider Backing Crist
BY BUDDY NEVINS
Property Appraiser Lori Parrish, one of Broward’s top Democrats, is considering supporting Charlie Crist if he vetoes the controversial abortion bill now on his desk.
“If he vetoed that bad abortion bill I would strongly consider supporting him, Parrish says. “It’s not only me. Every woman I talk to agrees with me.
“The women of my generation feel very strongly about this right (to choose), she continued. “I don’t know if younger women feel as strongly as I do because they’ve never been without the right.
She said that the proposed abortion bill, which requires women to pay for an ultra sound before an abortion and either look at the image or hear a description of it, will punish mainly poor women.
“People with money will be able to go to New York or other places to avoid this, said Parrish, calling the bill an “insult to women.
Parrish’s comments about Crist were first made to the Palm Beach Post earlier today.
Parrish said she also had another reason to consider Crist, who left the Republican Party and is running for U. S. Senate as an independent.
The property appraiser said that she agrees with Sam Fields, the Browardbeat.com guest columnist. Fields wrote earlier this month that Democrats like him will start to support Crist if they believe he is the only candidate who can beat the probable Republican nominee Marco Rubio.
“Charlie may be the only one who can beat RubioI’m sure (probable Democratic nominee) Kendrick Meek is a nice guy, but I haven’t seen him around, Parrish said.

Way to go Lori! Fight for what’s right. Come on Charlie veto that bill.

You go, girl.
Lori Parrish knows there are things more important than partisanship.

THIS LAW IS STUPIDER THAN THE HOMELESS HATE CRIME BILL,
…LETS GIVE WOMEN A MASSIVE GUILT TRIP AS THEY MAKE ONE OF THE MOST, IF NOT THE MOST, DIFFICULT DECISIONS OF THEIR LIVES.
DOES THE FATHER HAVE TO SUBMIT TO THE SAME REQ’S ??
===================================
ON ANOTHER NOTE, I AGREE WITH SAM FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE. I THINK WE SHOULD ADD GATOR & SEMINOLE FANS TO THE HATE CRIME BILL. THAT WAY IF YOU WENT TO FSU…AND YOU SHOOT A U OF F FAN…THIS SHOULD BE PUNISHED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE HATE CRIME LAW.

He has my vote already. Just for what he did for the Teachers of fla. Plus he has and open mind, not just being left or right.
FROM BUDDY:
Lori Parrish also mentioned that she appreciated Crist’s veto of the education bill.

I am glad to see all the Democrats supporting Crist. He has always been a RINO and has now shown his true colors. The liberal vote will be split between Meeks and Crist leaving Rubio with a win. Sam Fields should keep up the good work.

Charlie will win Broward County despite the fact that Kendrick Meek is from Miami.
We all appreciate Charlie’s veto of the bad education bill and his pending veto of the horrible abortion bill.
We will see Rubio’s vote evaporate as the true nature of the Teaparty becomes known and they are labeled for what they are, which is extreme right wingers who dislike minorities and want an all-white world with no Jews, blacks, Hispanics and others not from so-called pure European stock.
Go Lori. Go.

Crist should sign the abortion bill into law. He already has support from prolife democrats across the state of Florida, who primarily do not vote in primaries for obvious reasons.

I respect Lori’s opinion and agree with many of her points. HOWEVER…
Does anyone actually think Crist vetoed SB6 because he actually cares about teachers?!? No, he only did it because it was politically expedient for Charlie. If he vetoes the abortion bill, it will be for the same reasons.
Charlie Crist is an unprincipled political coward that has never stuck his neck out for anyone or anything that didn’t directly serve his own ambitions. If it wasn’t for Marco Rubio and the Teabaggers, you wouldn’t be able to get Crist to even TALK about either of those two issues, let alone act on them. He just knows that its late in the game and he’s way behind in the score, so he’s looking for every “Hail Mary” pass he can throw.
Conversely, Kendrick Meek is an honorable man with the integrity to act on those same issues because he knows they’re just WRONG, not because he sees personal gain. If he had been governor, he probably would have used his leadership to avoid passage of those insane bills in the first place. I get frustrated seeing people giving up on him when he hasn’t even started campaigning yet.
Is Crist a better choice than Rubio? Hell, yes. But lets not elevate him to some level of nobility when we all know he’s nothing more than a political prostitute. Maybe he should run an ad on “rentboy.com”

Crist will defeat Rubio by a bigger margin than most folks expect.

I am a proud middle of the road Republican who has voted for many, many Democrats, mostly because I felt more aligned to the VIEWS of those particular candidates and not because they were Democrat or Republican. With all due respect, Lori Parrish could care less about anyone but her own agendas and those whom she buddies around with. She would support Crist to influence her followers to vote against Rubio.
Crist vetoed the Education bill, which was the RIGHT thing to do. The abortion bill is a terrible bill but not because it forces a woman to re-think her decision, but because it is another costly decision that will do nothing but alienate voters on that side of this controversy.
Tomas said earlier: “Teaparty becomes known and they are labeled for what they are, which is extreme right wingers who dislike minorities and want an all-white world with no Jews, blacks, Hispanics and others not from so-called pure European stock.”
One could say that Democrats are liberal extreme left-wingers who love minorities and want to redisribute as much existing wealth to the blacks, Hispanics and allow others who have entered this country illegally all the rights and privilages as those who are naturally born. In addition, Democrats would fund these illegals educational needs and place them in jobs by increasing taxes to the so-called “all-white” wealthy americans.”
Yes, sounds pretty bad and not very nice…
I have to wonder why ANY politician would want to be in public office right now. The well of corrupt money is dwindling, so I think you will continue to see a load of politicians retiring. There are no good politicians left in office because you have to be “rich and connected” to win any race, even on a local level.
Rubio will start inching (very slowly and transparently) towards the middle while making clear he will reach out to the left as this campaign continues and will win this race. He is a smart man.

I’ve litigated against Lori Parrish’s office…the office is straight…they follow the law..painting politicians with the same brush is really stupid…the ones i knew long before they ran were mostly good guys then and are still…

A sad truth about elected politics is that your choices are limited to just those people that run. You are forced to choose among them.
Kendrick Meek is simply not ready to be a US Senator. Quite honestly, if not for his mother, he would not even be in political life. He does not have her level of ability. I do not feel comfortable entrusting him with the title US Senator at this most critical time of national and global crisis. I do not believe he has what it takes to play well in that league.
Marco Rubio is an ultra right wing conservative, an ideologue that appeals mostly to the angry and hardheaded. His crowd wants to obstruct efforts to solve the nation’s problems. They publicly hope for the president’s failure. They’re approach to solving the nation’s problems is doing nothing. They are not truly a political party, they are an organized form of personality disorder. Marco Rubio is their standard bearer. I trust him even less than Kendrick Meek and his past performance as Speaker in Florida left this state in the worst shape ever. His lament was that he could not implement all of his 101 ideas for Florida. Thank goodness for that.
Charlie Crist has not been my favorite guy. He has pandered too much and vascilates on issues that he should take on directly. He is often more looks than substance, more interested in being liked than in being a strong leader. But increasingly he has gotten better. He wants to be more moderate in his judgments than his base of support allows. He wants to be more statesmanlike in his ability to work with others. Recently, he has shown the willing to break from his base and that takes great personal strength. I am admiring him more and think he has the intellect to serve in the Senate as a moderate.
He is still not my favorite guy for US Senator but of the three, there is no question that he would be the best for us because he has been willing to listen to both sides of an issue and come out with a decent decision most of the time as Governor. You have to respect that.
For these reasons, this Democrat will be voting for Crist.
