Jim Waldman is putting his money where his mouth is.

A former Coconut Creek Democratic House member, Waldman loaned his state Senate campaign $200,000 in March.

A well-to-do lawyer and the son of a wealthy developer, Waldman reported a net worth in 2013 of more than $2 million. He had a salary of $337,000 from his job as general counsel for Keiser University and $28,446 from his House position.

With $295,601 in the bank as of March 31 including the $113,191 he raised from donors, Waldman has a big head start on any potential opponent. He has no opponent so far.

He spent roughly $20,000 on his 2016 campaign so far.

In addition to the money he personally spends and raises, it is widely expected that Waldman also will have help from a number of political committees for the open Senate seat.

Waldman wants to replace state Sen. Jeremy Ring, D-Margate, who is termed out after the 2016 election.

Although there are no other candidates yet for Senate District 29, it is anticipated that other Democrats will run.

Among those candidates being mentioned are Gary Farmer, a successful trial attorney who is a favorite of the Trial Bar, and Kristin Jacobs, who is serving her first term in the House after 16 years on the county commission.

An earlier post on Waldman’s candidacy is here.

Thanks for letting the world know that I run a 25 year old promotional products company, Campaign Associates (as in promotional/marketing campaigns. The vast majority of our customers are corporations, professional firms, banks and,in even numbered years, political campaigns.
I do support Jim Waldman for the State Senate. He was the well respected Democratic floor leader in the Florida House until term limits ended his service in the House last year.

    FROM BUDDY:

I can attest to the fact that David Brown has clients outside of politics and actually outside of South Florida. I was eating lunch with him recently when he received a call from a sizable car dealer in another state ordering a large number of promotional products.

    Buddy.

Did he buy you lunch? And if so, did you supersize your fries?

    FROM BUDDY:

Ha ha ha. Mr. Waldman didn’t buy me lunch.
