Former Broward Demo Chief Mitch Ceasar Running For National DNC Post

BY BUDDY NEVINS

Mitch Ceasar, the longtime leader of the Broward Democrats who stepped down last month, is running for a new, high profile job with the national party.

Ceasar is one of several candidates running for vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, according to the New York Times.

The Plantation attorney was in Phoenix, Ariz. on Saturday campaigning for the new job among DNC members.

Ceasar is a member of the DNC, a group led until last year by U. S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Weston.  Wasserman Schultz quit after emails were published in WikiLeaks indicating she used her position to improperly work against the presidential candidacy of Bernie Sanders.

Near the end of a lengthy article, the Times laid out Sunday some of Ceasar’s position about the Democrats future approach to Donald Trump:

“In interviews here in Phoenix, Democrats voiced a determination to resist the spectacle — to not play by Mr. Trump’s rules.

“‘We can complain all day about every stupid tweet, but the bottom line is that’s not going to change anything,’ said Mitch Ceasar, a member of the Democratic committee from Florida who is running for a vice chairman post. ‘We have to have precision and be narrow in our scope.’”

Ceasar could not be reached for comment.

Ceasar, 63,  is one of nine candidates for the vice chair spot. Only two others are expected to be serious challengers, both from New York City —  Michael Blake, 34, a New York State Assemblymen from the Bronx, and Grace Meng, 41, a member of Congress representing Queenx

The fact that DWS got caught with her her thumb on the scale in favor of Hillary over Bernie isn’t the only dismal xray into her character.

She helped pull the same stunt against “her friend” Nan Rich, helping to deny her a debate against Charlie Crist in their race for governor.

These acts demonstrate how a person acts when power drunk and arrogant. It is a stain that Debbie Wasserman Schultz will never be able to erase from her reputation. She helped Trump win the presidency.

  4. Sean Phillippi says:

I don’t know if this affects anything, but Mitch lost his bid for re-election as a member of the DNC from Florida yesterday. Not only did he not win one of the 5 spots available, he finished dead last in the voting.

    FROM BUDDY:

My understanding is that someone can be appointed to DNC membership in addition to being elected. This from the “Daily Kos,” a liberal-leaning website:

“The DNC is selected through a complex process in which state representatives, national representatives, and interest group representatives are picked or appointed based on their constituency group. There are mandated gender balance rules, and ethnic diversity is strongly encouraged in the charter. The DNC elects the Chairman, and the Chairman and the Executive Committee of the DNC run the national party.”

Best of luck Mitch, the DNC needs a reboot.

  6. John Lundin says:

Mitch has the perfect experience from years as the Broward DEC Chair to be elected as DNC VP… Mitch has years of experience talking to the national media… and his experience as a motivator at Broward DEC meetings is legendary…

  7. GLS says:

Was he really in Phoenix, Arkansas, or Arizona?

    FROM BUDDY:

For God’s sake Mitch… you had 20 years at the helm of the Broward Democtatic Party and oversaw consistent decline. Go away already!

  10. Count LF Chodkiewicz Chudzikiewicz says:

Mr Nevins’ comments under 3. are why the Democrats have lost elections and atre NOT democratic any more

  11. Ha Ha Ha says:

I don’t support Mitch for DNC VP or for any other management / policymaking position, but as just a TV / radio / etc. spokesperson, Mitch Ceasar is a very talented guy. The DNC should absolutely hire Mitch as a full-time spokesperson for the Democratic Party!
