Fields’ Random Thoughts: Allen West, Terrorists and Jews

BY SAM FIELDS

At least once a month while I am standing outside a courtroom, someone will nervously ask me: “Am I allowed to go inside”?

My response is always the same.  “Unless they’ve amended the Constitution since yesterday that should not be a problem.”

The Sixth Amendment states in part: “In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy (enjoy????) the right to a speedy and public trial…”

I bring this up because the government is trying to block public access (the media) to testimony in the Guantanamo trial of Abd al Rahim al Nashiri, one of the planners of the October 2000 attack on the USS Cole.

This trial is the latest evisceration of our Constitution coming out of the Gitmo military tribunals.

None of this would be a problem if we tried all these folks in our Federal Courts. Instead, in the name of “national security”, we have experienced a hodgepodge of prosecutions without rhyme or reason.  The “Shoe” and “Underwear” bombers are in civil courts but some of the 9/11 bombers are in military tribunals. The 1993 Twin Tower bombers were all tried in Federal Court and given sentences that none will outlive.

What don’t they want us to hear?  I doubt it is Nashiri’s confession.  My guess it’s the background noise where you can hear the CIA interrogator calling for another 100 volts.

They Ain’t Making Jews Like Jesus Anymore

Thus sang Kinky Friedman, lead singer of Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys.

If that title offends, you definitely do not want to hear the rest of the song.

You most definitely do not want to read the Facebook page of Dani Gilbert.

She, of the Hebraic persuasion, wrote a joke that involved the use of the terms “Jewbags” and something else about Jewish money. It is here.

None of this would matter if she did not work for Democratic Kingpin (Queenpin?) Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Schultz’s comments are here.

Anonymous sources—read Jew. O. P. instead of G.O.P–are appalled at Gilbert’s statements.

What disingenuous Republican bullshit.

With the possible exception of Arthur Teitelbaum, self-effacing, self-mocking ethnic humor is engaged in by all of us whether we are Jews, Blacks, Irish, Italian, Lutherans, etc.

For those of you who don’t know Mr. Teitelbaum he is the former head of the South Florida branch of the Anti Defamation League.  Following a politically correct ADL luncheon I challenged him tell me a Jew joke.

Silence.

When I offered to tell him one he had a look like I wanted to show him pictures of his mother doing porno.

We need less “sensitivity” and more “South Park”.

So let me leave you with a Jew joke:

A Hassidic Jew, with a duck on his head, walks into a bar.

The puzzled bartender asks: Where did you get that?

The duck says: “Brooklyn, they’ve got thousands of them.”

I have thousands of more hopefully offensive jokes.

Allen West: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder?

It is only slightly tongue-in-cheek to ask whether Allen West (R. Fort Lauderdale) is mentally disturbed.

His most recent foray into the world of strange behavior came last Tuesday when he declared that there were:  “…about 78 to 81 members of the Democratic Party that are members of the Communist Party.”

It was as if he believed he was channeling Senator Joseph McCarthy, R-Wis. “Tailgunner Joe” made a short-lived career of announcing various numbers of Communists who were in either the State and/or Defense Departments.

(On a personal note I can do a pretty good imitation of McCarthy.  The difference is that I know McCarthy is not actually speaking through me.)

What makes West’s behavior seem even stranger was a single issue piece of mail I received from him on the same day.

In it he proudly proclaimed to be the only Republican supporting HR 1515. That bill that would pretty much eviscerate state control of setting standards for issuing driver’s licenses.

The list of co-sponsors reads like the Who’s Who of the Democratic Left…or, as West would call them….Commie Rats.

Didn’t Karl Marx once proclaim that the key to establishing a Communist State was controlling teen driver’s licenses?

  1. Mister Courthouse says:

Fields’ remarks are not “self mocking” since he constantly makes fun of blacks, Jews and especially Catholics, while he is not any of the above. He is a self-professed atheist who writes that the rest are unaware of his truth, which is the only truth that matters. He is not “self mocking” but mocking others for not believing in his atheistic “truth”.

  2. Lois says:

Amen, Mister Courthouse. Fields remains an egomaniacal, sick puppy.

  3. Chaz Stevens says:

Catholic priest deserve a very special place in that place they call hell.

  4. Electric Jack says:

Since when does the American Constitution apply to a Terrrorist from another nation? Best way to hndle liberals is hit them with facts instead of there lies like axelrod and The President……

  5. Plain Language says:

Allen West is precisely why military personnel generally make suspect politicians. They sound like good leaders, but the leadership they offer is anything but good and sound. It is brutish and divisive. They label and dismiss logical reason in favor of accomplishing the mission. What mission? They one they were “told” to accomplish. They do what they are told. It’s the thing you can say most reliably about them. They obey and thinking has nothing to do with it.

Besides, why think? It’s not relevant to their training to fight not make peace. They see the world in simplistic ways that demand simplistic answers. Yet the world is a complex place that requires depth of understanding. They’re instinct is to attack because they are brutes. The best in that category become generals or colonels like West. No thinking is required.

Such people have value on battle fields but back at home, we are wise to keep our dogs on leashes. They might bite someone and need to be put down.

West is too stupid and too emotionally needy of recognition and ego boosting to realize what a pathetic pawn he has become. It probably doesn’t occur to him that he’s is being programmed to walk the same path as McCarthy. Which in a free nation inevitably leads to that same demise.

He’s so self-absorbed in his power trip that he dismisses any such notion. He thinks he’s in charge of how he operates. He doesn’t even recognize his own programming. But we see it. Even his people see it, well some more than others. Nobody, not the liberals or the conservatives likes McCarthy tactics because that brings us back to places we should never revisit.

He thinks it good military tactic to call others communists hoping that forces them to leave their “camp” and fight on his ground. It doesn’t occur to him that the reverse is already happening. Or that had it not been for the progressives, there’s no way a black man would be allowed to speak in public at all. Much less serve as a US Congressman.

The very people he supports are the same conservatives that lynched his ancestors. And they will lynch him too once he’s served his purpose. It’s all so tragic to watch. Like watching a train wreck about to happen.

The worst of society is coming out again brought forward by first dividing the nation into these and those. A lesson West should have learned early in life not to follow. But that ugliness is deeply rooted in our breed. We can tame it with lessons learned from 1930’s Europe. But we will not eliminate it entirely. Like a dormant virus it so easy to awaken and that is why the spirit of national socialism is making a come back. You see the signs of it all around you.

This time as last, it’s being brought to you by the conservative movement. Not the liberals. Never the liberals. They have other problems but hating and dividing people into these and those is not among them. For that specialty you need to find a conservative, a little financial discomfort, and a black president couldn’t hurt.

  6. electric jack says:

  8. City Activist Robert Walsh says:

Allen West is a jerk in plain english. I am giving it serious consideration to challenge him. I mean come on. He is what we used to call an Oreo cookie(plenty of them). Black when its convient for him to be black. Bully’s his counter parts to no avail(Debbie Wasserman Shultz). Allen West needs to go.

  9. Chaz Stevens says:

    Jack…

You really jumped the shark (hey look it’s Fonzi!) comparing Allen West to…

    Washington, or Grant, or Roosevelt.

Though, if by Carter you mean Nell Carter (TV Star from the hit show Jake and the Fat Man), then I would agree…

When it comes to Allen West, he definitely outperforms many C-List actors.

  10. Floridan says:

  11. Watcher says:

    Jack: “hear” “hear”

  12. oh my says:

wow chaz and walsh agree on something, West is a uniter

  13. SAM FIELDS says:

    Dear Electric,
It’s hard to fully measure the bounds of your ignorance.

First of all the word spelled “hear” not “here”.

Had I been around in the 1860’s I would hope that I would have been a Republican.

Beginning in the 1950’s the GOP began to abandon its Lincolnesque concern for Black people.

Today the core of the GOP is the former Dixiecrats whose single issue was and is race.

A recent Mississippi poll indicated that half of all Republicans want interracial marriage to once again be a crime.

Notwithstanding it violates the U.S. Constitution, the good folks of Alabama (read Conservative Whites) have repeatedly refused to remove the following provisions from their Constitution:

Article XIV, Section 256: “Separate schools shall be provided for white and colored children, and no child of either race shall be permitted to attend a school of the other race.”

Article IV, Section 102: “The Legislature shall never pass any law to authorize or legalize any marriage between any white person and a Negro, or descendant of a Negro.”

Article VIII, Section 180: “The following male citizens of this state” qualify to register as electors.

Article VIII, Section 181: “The owner in good faith in his own right, or the husband of a woman who is the owner in good faith of 40 acres of land” qualify to register as electors.

In the 1960’s millions of conservative White Southern Democrats switched to the GOP.

It improved the moral and intellectual standing in both parties.

  14. ExCompassionate Conservative says:

At one point I thought the silvery matter on top of West’s hair was just gray hair. Years later I realize that it is tin foil.

  15. HoCam says:

The Republicans’ promotion of their pre-1950s civil rights creds is a zombie talking point that’s been around at least as long as these innertubes. Is there anything that can be done to make it finally die? If we illustrated the explanation in a picture book, or wrote it out in crayons with a generous supply of mis-spelled words and grammatical errors, would they get it? Or is the total absurdity of the argument a feature not a bug? Tell me, Sam.

Sam = The Emmes (With Jokes)

  16. Duke says:

I went to Florida and visited my Jewish friend. He had a little alligator on his shirt. Then I went to the everglades and I saw an alligator with a little Jew on his shirt.

  17. What Would Reagan Do? says:

I believe making patently racist comments is never a proper thing to do. I guess Robert Walsh feels differently. I didn’t realize it is okay if the target of those remarks is a Republican.

  18. Clean The Books says:

It’s not only the Alabama Constitution – there are thousands of zombie laws on the books which have been ruled unconstitutional and are therefore unenforceable, but which have never been removed. The legal system should be updated. When a law or state constitutional provision is ruled unconstitutional, that should directly result in its excision as soon as the ruling is final.

  19. Jay says:

Thanks for giving me a reason to ignore Sam Fields further columns. Ignorance at any level is unacceptable.
