Broward Politics: Green Party’s Wacky Jill Stein Could Cost Hillary Clinton Florida

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein toured Florida college campuses this week trying to convince students to join her campaign.
For Democrats, its beginning to look a lot like 2000. Sixteen years ago Green Party nominee Ralph Nader won 97,488 votes in Florida – arguably enough to rob Democratic nominee Al Gore of the state and the presidency.
Stein could do the same to Hillary Clinton.

Like the Nader’s platform, Stein’s wacky ideas appear to have been cooked in a 1960s-era lefty commune.
Stein’s visions are more red than green.
She believes in Big Rock Candy Mountain politics, where birthdays come around every week, it’s Christmas every day and only “Wall Street,” “the rich,” “big corporations” and cuts in the military foot the bill.
Stein offers few specifics and offers no definition what she means by Wall Street, the rich and big corporations.
One big problem: Every economist believes Wall Street, the rich and big corporations don’t have enough money for her plan. Military cuts won’t do the job, either.
Stein wants:
- Free college for anyone,
- National health care,
- Federally paid childcare for everybody,
- Increased federal aid for K-12 public schools,
- More welfare benefits and
- Government jobs for anybody who can’t get work in the private sector.
Some of her other proposals are equally unaffordable or just plain wacky.
Stein wants to:
- Cut the military 50 percent,
- Abolish all existing college loan debt,
- Slap a moratorium on foreclosures and evictions from rental property,
- Increase money for public housing,
- Establish government owned banks to compete with or replace private banks,
- Relax law enforcement on all borders,
- Have the government create new utility systems,
- “Ensure racially inclusive, sensitive and relevant curriculums” in schools,
- End U. S. aid to Israel,
- Unilaterally disarm our nuclear weapons,
- Allow prisoners “while in prison” to vote and
- Pay reparations for the “sins of slavery.”
What Stein doesn’t point out is that none of her proposals will ever become law, even if by some misfortune she becomes president. Thank God for Congress.
Another interesting point is that Stein is very accepting of Russian President Vladimir Putin on her website. The site even features an article with Putin praising her comments at an event in Moscow run by the Russian government TV. Here is a link about the Putin/Stein connection.
More than one Internet conspiracy theorist has opined that Putin wants Stein to steal votes from Hillary Clinton so that the Russian’s real choice, Donald J. Trump, is elected.
Regardless of any Putin connection, Stein has the potential of being a spoiler. She could get tens of thousands of votes in Florida from the deluded casting a protest vote. It could cost Clinton the election.
The results won’t be a Big Rock Canady Mountain of goodies for everyone.
The results just could be President Donald J. Trump.

What a wonderful and socially aware candidate! I heartily endorse her and I feel that nobody is more worthy of the idiot vote, er I mean, the progressive vote. Well nobody except maybe Gary Johnson that is.
I think it might be just as advantageous to Trump to lure the unwary progressive to Johnson or Stein as it would be to actually contribute to Trump’s coffers. Stein has been polling at 1% or 2% while Johnson less than 10%.
Johnson has the Wacky Tabacky vote sewn up while Stein has the unstable and mental disability angle cornered.
But take a look at the Hildebeast’s own platform. She wants at least a third of what Stein asks for. In her heart, she would go for the second third. If it would get her elected, she would accept the whole platform.

Very few American voters know who Gary Johnson is.
Divide that small number by 100 and you get all the American voters who know who Jill Stein.

The problem isn’t that Hillary is an unethical, corrupt, lying criminal dirtbag – Everyone KNOWS that. The problem is that her supporters don’t care. Shrillary’s ethical elevator has no basement.

Hillary leans towards supporting at least 7 of the topics supported by Jill. So, what difference does it make? Hillary has the media, Jill does not.

The Green Parties worldwide are a mishmash not of liberalism but a weird convolution of fascism communism and Rousseau style primitive naturalism. The few times they get to power in coalitions they spend their time fighting for larger expense accounts not tax or economic reforms. They are a joke like Ralph Nader was n is.

If Jill were married to Bill, as in Clinton, the liberal media would be backing her and Hillary in 2016 and 2020 would morph into Jillary in 2016 and 2020.
Money and power have their perks even when ones ideas are just a bit whack a doodle as in Jill’s and Hillary’s.

Since Hillary Clinton does not own the state of Florida, it is preposterous to claim that Jill Stein would “steal” it from her. Hilary is not entitled to votes. She has to earn them. If she is incapable of earning sufficient votes that is her failure as a candidate and the result of the voters’ right to choose. The current policies of the Republicans, many of which have been co-opted by the Democrats will soon lead to us having an uninhabitable planet. Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans are really facing the reality of the changes we as a society will need to make in the face of climate change – either willingly or under duress. As for the policy proposals, American politics are not always as predictable as the pundits like for us to believe. Their self-assured pronouncements are not always correct. Twenty years ago no one would have believed that big banks and the U.S. auto industry would be bailed out by the government. Few would have predicted that chattel slavery would ever become illegal in the United States at the time of this nation’s founding. Why is it considered more self-deceiving to support someone who at least puts out proposals to advance the causes of justice and true environmental protection than to vote for someone who will simply perpetuate the unsustainable status quo?
