Broward Clerk Brenda Forman Is Again Proven Unfit For Office

BY BUDDY NEVINS

It has become increasingly clear that the election of Broward Clerk of the Courts Brenda Forman in 2016 was a disaster.

Everyday she proves she is unfit for office.

Unfit because of her lack of skills.

Unfit because of her repeated lack of veracity. She has an unfamiliarity with the truth that’s astounding.

She lied to the court about the reasons for her divorce from former Clerk Howard Forman. She lied to the authorities about attorney Bill Gelin.

She has lied so much that she is now being investigated by prosecutors for lying in the wrong place — under oath.

Today Gelin found yet another incident where co-workers believed that Forman and the truth were strangers.

A writer for the courthouse blog JAAB, Gelin obtained through a public records request memos from her personnel file when she worked for the State Attorney’s Office.

Brenda Forman

Once again it indicates that some believe she lied.

But what’s truly amazing is her lack of sensitivity and common sense as the nation was mourning the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Memos reproduced on Gelin’s blog detail her reaction to the State Attorney’s Office closing on Sept. 11, 2001 because of the attacks.

Co-workers in the State Attorney’s Office were transfixed by the spectacle unwinding on the world’s television screens. No doubt some were sobbing.

But Forman?

Forman whooped out loud with apparent joy when she heard the news over a loudspeaker that the office was closing. She was happy to be getting off from work early.

A supervisor who had family in the World Trade Center chided her for being happy. She had a confrontation with the supervisor.

And what was she concerned about in her memo explaining the incident. “No one, I mean no one came to my aid,” she wrote and underlined.

Co-workers shocked and watching the TV in horror should have dropped everything and come to her aid. What a self-centered jerk!

She claims the supervisor threatened her. He and several others claimed that she exaggerated the situation.

Others backed her up. The incident was settled through mediation.

You can read is all here: http://www.jaablaw.com/uncategorized/a-celebratory-woohoo/

Her allegations about the 9/11 incident details another thread running through her public life: Brenda Forman has a chip on her shoulder bigger than the courthouse itself.

The definition of having a chip on ones shoulder is this: The act of holding a grudge or grievance that readily provokes disputation. It can also mean a person thinking too much of oneself (often without the credentials) or feeling entitled.

That definition sums up everything I believe about Brenda Forman.

Gelin should be congratulated for his dogged pursuit of the truth in the matters concerning Forman.

but buddy, she was duly elected by the people, do you think there might be a problem with our democracy… as for me, im not sure anymore………..

    FROM BUDDY:

That is definitely a good point. She is up for reelection in 2020.

  2. Anonymous says:

You should be wearing a KKK robe.

  3. Count. LF Chodkiewicz Chudzikiewicz says:

Exhibit A in Broward voters elections FAILURE TO ELECT GOOD PEOPLE.
SHE WON BECAUSE NO RESPONSIBLE PERSON RAN AGAINST HER.
BY THE WAY WHERE WAS THE BROWARD WORKSHOP IN THAT ELECTION? DID THEY FIND A DECENT CANDIDATE? NO THEY WERE TOO BUSY PROTECTING RUNCIE! ANOTHER DISASTER.
NO ONE IN BROWARD GIVES A DAMN ABOUT GOVERNMENT EXCEPT LOBBYISTS VENDORS etc WHILE EVERYONE ELSE JUST IS HERE TO MAKE A PILE WITH MINIMUM EFFORT N GIVE BACK NOTHING TO THE PUBLIC. THE FT LAUDERDALE CITY COMMISSION WANTS TO RAISE THEIR SALARIES SOMETHING LIKE 40 GRAND N IN ALL OF THE CITY I AM THE ONLY ONE TO SUGGEST THIS IS GREED RARELY FOUND OUTSIDE OF DONALD TRUMP’S SHENANIGANS!

  4. Charlotte Greenbarg says:

Bro ward Democrat voters are brainless lemmings

  5. I T Smith says:

Forman won because of her husband’s name. She also had political advise from her husband and since they have had a bad divorce, it won’t be available in the next election. I actually read he Howard Forman is going to challenger her. Soi at this point she is a lame duck.

  6. Count. LF Chodkiewicz Chudzikiewicz says:

“You should be wearing a KKK robe” is Exhibit B on how low class Broward’electorate is.
Buddy Nevins AS A SELF CONFESSED LONG HAIR HIPPY HAS BEEN FIGHTING RACIAL DISCRIMMINATIIN HERE FOR 40 Plus Years!
And some low rent hack accuses him of laying out the FACTS of a dirty Publuc Official! AND WE KNOW IT WILL TURN OUT TO BE SOMEONE WHI IS ON FORMAN’s PAD as Kojack woukd say.

  7. Charlotte Greenbarg says:

Oh, the race card is played whenever the facts are inconvenient. Of course anonymously. Get back in the swillpot.

  8. No Robe for Buddy says:

@2 … you should just be ashamed of yourself. It is this kind of race baiting that turns all of us against one another. Honestly, calling out a public official for conduct like this puts you in the same basket as the KKK ? Seriously ? Brenda Forman is not fit for office. She would not be any fitter if she was white. The color of her skin is completely irrelevant. Hopefully, the electorate will decide the issue in 2020 and Ms. Forman can deal with the implications of her actions as a private citizen.

  9. modeen says:

Any voter who looks at her record the past 2 years and can still vote for her is biased.

  10. Ha Ha Ha says:

@3 – Elizabeth McHugh was (and still is) a very highly qualified and “responsible” candidate for Clerk, and Buddy Nevins clearly pointed that out right here:

    https://www.browardbeat.com/non-political-newcomer-fights-veteran-politician-for-169k-plum-job/

Count, you even posted numerous comments to that article, most of which you used to falsely claim that Mitch Ceasar was the most qualified candidate.

Now you are falsely claiming that no “responsible” person ran against Brenda Forman. Whether your candidate in that race (Mitch Ceasar) is “responsible” or not is surely debatable, but you left absolutely no doubt that you believed Mitch Ceasar was your best choice.

Elizabeth McHugh was by far the best and most highly qualified candidate for Clerk. She should have been elected last time. I certainly hope she will run again.

  11. Rightwinger says:

That is not Madam Clerk. Our office had an Evidentiary hearing last Wednesday. Saw her getting in the elevator down stairs, she looks nothing like the picture you posted. Next time you post, put an accurate picture.

  12. Broward Voter says:

She is clearly unfit for office, as is anyone who knew her well but endorsed her anyway.

  13. Ha Ha Ha says:

McHugh has a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Florida Atlantic University. McHugh started out as a law clerk in the Public Defender’s Office 28 years ago. She was promoted to various budgeting jobs with increasing responsibility over the years.

Today, she is is the Administrative Director of the Broward Public Defender’s Office, responsible for the finances of the $20 million agency with 230 fulltime employees.

All that experience would get her the job if professional management and finance ability were the only skills that mattered, but this job must be won in an election.

    https://www.browardbeat.com/non-political-newcomer-fights-veteran-politician-for-169k-plum-job/

This is especially relevant now, because in 2025, the responsibility for handling Broward County’s finances moves from the County Administrator to the Clerk of Courts:

    https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/florida/fl-ne-forman-bill-killed-20190501-story.html

Elizabeth McHugh’s exceptional knowledge and ongoing experience as the person in charge of the $20 million finances of the Clerk of Courts make her the very best candidate to take on the additional responsibility of handling all of Broward County’s finances when this 2025 relocation of responsibility takes place.

Let’s stop electing unqualified people to high-level positions of responsibility in Broward County! Elizabeth McHugh is exactly the right candidate for this job.

  14. NWBroward954 says:

And I’d like to know what in God’s name Gary Farmer was thinking. https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/florida/fl-ne-forman-bill-killed-20190501-story.html

    FROM BUDDY:

That’s an easy question to answer: He was thinking of his own political future.

  15. Rightwinger says:

#13. Ha Ha Ha, your are really funny. She was no where in the last election. The real Mr Forman will be elected back into office. When will she even file to run? Thanks for putting real pic of Madam Clerk Buddy.

  16. Ha Ha Ha says:

@15 – Elizabeth McHugh received 30,334 votes in the last election for Clerk of Courts, which is only slightly less than the 34,966 votes that Mitch Ceasar received.

Mitch Ceasar started with very high name recognition from his decades as the Chair of the Broward Democratic Party, whereas Elizabeth McHugh started from zero (nobody even knew who she was).

As for Mr. Forman, Howard Forman’s record in office proves that he certainly does not deserve the job.

    * Under Howard Forman, the Clerk’s office was intentionally hiding public records.

    http://www.fornits.com/phpbb/index.php?topic=18693.0

    * Under Howard Forman, the Clerk’s office was charging outrageous fees for public records requests.

    https://web.archive.org/web/20150920130656/http://fsne.org/news/2014/10/14/price-of-sunshine-in-broward-county-132k-in-public-records-search-fees/

    * Under Howard Forman, the Clerk’s office made Internet access to public records a straight-up nightmare.

    http://www.clerk-17th-flcourts.org

Both Formans have thus committed major misfeasance; neither Forman should ever again be elected to the office of County Clerk.

Elizabeth McHugh was by far the best and most highly qualified candidate for Clerk. She should have been elected last time. I certainly hope she will run again.

  17. Rightwinger says:

Mr. HA HA HA. Then why doesn’t she run for the PD office? She knows it so well. Again when will she fill for either office?
