Big Business Group Hedges Its Bet In Broward Race

BY BUDDY NEVINS

Not so fast, David Maymon.

Despite the early support of the Broward GOP establishment, the business folks in Tallahassee are not so sure that Maymon is the winner in Florida House District 91.

The huge pro-business Associated Industries of Florida is hedging its bet.

AIF would only give Maymon a co-endorsement along with opponent George Moriatis.

The AIF co-endorsement is a big boost for Moriatis’ campaign, lending it credibility among state GOP pols.

The 10,000-member AIF is playing it straight up the middle.

‘We were impressed by your appreciation of the free enterprise system and support for policies that will promote a prosperous economy for all Floridians, said Barney Bishop, president and CEO of AIF, about Maymon.

“We were impressed by your appreciation of the free enterprise system and support for policies that will promote a prosperous economy for all Floridians”, Bishop said about Moraitis.

Hmmmm.

Moriatis has had a good week.  Last week the Florida Right to Life and the Broward Allied Medical PAC endorsed him.

Maymon and Moraitis are said to be the front runners in the Republican primary to replace state Rep. Ellyn Bogdanoff in the GOP-leaning northeast Broward beachfront district.

  1. Not the truth says:

The have hedged their bets in just about every race Buddy. The are the king of Co-Endorsing lately. Just look at every senate race. They have the backbone of tempered balsa wood.

  2. Good call Buddy! says:

Big Business and Tallahassee are starting to see what district 91 residents have known all along. Moraitis is the canidate that can best serve the district.

  3. Congratulations but reeeeelax says:

If that were the case why didn’t they endorse Moraitis by himself ? Relax Moraitis camp, good co-endorsement but just get back to campaigning and settle down. You will be back to reality very shortly.

  4. Tired of Status Quo says:

The reality of the state removing a candidate from the ballot? If you can’t follow instructions on how to properly fill out the applications should you really be able to run? Hum….
