Two School Board Members Get Opponents

Two Broward School Board members — originally appointed by Gov. Rick Scott — got opponents in recent days.
Donna Korn, and Heather Brickworth, who was appointed earlier this year, both picked up challengers unknown to the political world.
Korn was elected to a countywide seat in 2012 after her appointment. Her first opponent, who filed for office on Monday, is Predrag Patrick Jovanov of Pompano Beach.
Jonvanov appears to have had complaints as a licensed contractor in the past, according to state records. It is not immediately clear how the complaints were resolved, but it appears he had his license revoked at one time.
He is also listed on a state list of responders to a possible bombing emergency. Information from state corporate records indicate that Jovanov had an import business in the past.
Jonvanov is apparently a very politically mixed up guy!
He joined the conservative-dominated Republican Executive Committee on Monday May 20 shortly after launching his campaign, according to a report in the DailyBroward. Yet at one time he was a sympathizer of Occupy Fort Lauderdale and met with such Democratic liberals as former state Sen. Nan Rich, who is running for governor.
Brickworth was appointed earlier this year to fill a Fort Lauderdale-based east Broward district. Her latest opponent is Sam Budyszewick of Fort Lauderdale, who opened his campaign on May 7.
Budyszewick’s Linkedin page states he is an educator with the Broward Schools, but does not say where he works. It also states he is an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University, teaching social work and human behavior. He is a former program director at Gilda’s club, a non-profit for cancer victims. He was also involved in The Pride Center in Fort Lauderdale.
Nick Sakhnowsky, a long time activist, had earlier challenge Brickworth.

Freedman who has not even registered to file has an opponent who has already collected many signatures for the ballot as well.
