Restaurant Favored By Pols To Close

BY BUDDY NEVINS

A political landmark is closing.

Marian’s Bagel Host, 248 S. University Dr., Plantation, will shut down after more than three decades of serving Broward’s political elite, office holders and the just-plain hungry.

Staff members hinted it was “a family decision.”  No further reason was given.

The restaurant across the street from the Westfield Mall, the new name for the Broward Mall, closes next week.

For years,  insiders breakfasted or lunched at Marian’s and planned the future of Broward.

“Can you imagine how many deals were done there?” said one former county commissioner who often ate there.

I met countless sources and office holders for breakfast at Marian’s over the years. I rarely was there without seeing somebody from politics or government.

This bit of Broward’s past will be missed.

  1. Lamberti is garbage says:

I wonder if Lamberti plotted Jenne’s demise there?

  2. Marty Shen says:

The place closed because the two daughters (sisters) who inherited the restaurant couldn’t get along. The one that’s there hosting has a big mouth and is not nice–never seen her smile once in over 10 years.
