Plantation Athletic League’s New Contract Almost Finished

 BY BUDDY NEVINS

City hall and Plantation Athletic League officials say they need two more weeks to iron out final details of a new contract governing kids’ sports at city-owned facilities.

The contract is now expected to be finalized within two weeks, instead of September 30 as originally planned.

The new plan is to present the contract to the city commission on Oct. 14.

Mayor Rae Carole Armstrong and City Attorney Don Lunny have been negotiating a new contract with the reconstituted PAL board for several months.

The agreement will allow the new PAL to continue to operate athletics for children on city fields and at city facilities.

Armstrong cancelled the former contract with PAL earlier this year.

Saying the city could no longer work with the PAL officers, Armstrong demanded PAL get a new board and that the agreement with the group be redrafted.

Her actions came after widespread allegations that PAL’s board had misspent thousands of dollars, rigged board elections and allowed former City Commissioner Rico Petrocelli to funnel money through PAL for a party with political overtones.

Buddy still workin on article thanks for the invite however having signed the first contract posted on PALSPORTS.ORG I find it funny that anyone would think the city has any any credibility in making a new contract .
SHE CANCELLED THE FIRST CONTRACT WHICH SHE SIGNED AND PAL AND THE CITY PUT 3 YEARS OF WORK IN.LUNNY GOT PAID BIG BUCKS THE FIRST TIME . Now the gutted board is going to enter into a new contract and the Mayor ( if she does not like how it works out ) WILL DO THE SAME THING .
A CONTRACT IS USUALLY DESIGNED TO PROTECT BOTH PARTIES. NOT IN MAYOR ARMSTRONGS PLANTATION , CHECK OUT THE AGENDA FOR TOMORROW NITE. JIM ROMANO WANTS TO CHANGE THE NAME OF LIBERTY TREE PARK TO MAYOR RAE CAROLE ARMSTRONG PARK . YIKES X 50 !

Ahhhhh…many weeks of work but one cannot see one agenda or minutes from that work posted on either http://www.plantation.org or http://www.palsports.org
Wheres the transparency…ohhh thats right, we are talking about a city that doesnt post its full budget, CAFR or all committee/boards minutes on line for all to see.
PS – Hey Buddy…you couldnt just report that the Task Force report was almost done but had to throw another dig on someone who was found not guilty of anywrongdoing by the SAO…and please spare me your BS about..”he wasnt found not guilty, just that there wasnt enough evidence, etc etc etc.”

I for one would like to know what the contract says before it is signed. Shouldn’t the parents have a say or dare I say a vote on what is being agreed upon? Is this just more of the same with less people sitting at the table? Am I wrong here? Does anyone else have the same thoughts?

    You are absolutely correct
As Ive said time and time before…in goverment…transparency is the key
I have no doubts that the Task Force is doing great work, but why dont they publish their minutes as they meet on their website???
Is it privacy, conspiracy or just laziness…..probably the last one
