Florida Wants Only The Right Kind Of Foreigner

BY SAM FIELDS

Republican governors are falling over each other to prevent any of 15,000 Syrian refugees coming to their state.

At the front of pack is Florida Gov. Rick Scott.

Spread around the country, Florida’s share of Syrian refugees would be a 1,000 or so.

As far as Governor “Skeletor” is concerned, one more foreigner in Florida is one too many.

Gov. Rick Scott

Well, not exactly.

Isn’t Florida spending $10-20 million-a-year to encourage foreigners to visit the Sunshine State?

It’s a campaign that’s so successful that, along with the 4 million from Canada, another 12 million are coming from around the world.

Surely there must be a difference so that the Syrians offer a threat not to be found in the other 12,000,000?

Could it be the vetting?

For the Syrians, it’s a two-year process waiting while you are subject to an investigation that complete enough to almost include a colonoscopy.

For the 12,000,000 foreign tourists, in most cases, it’s go into an American Counsel office and get your passport stamped with a visa.  In some cases, the travel agent takes care of it for you.

Top that with 38 countries whose citizens do not even require a visa!

Among them is Belgium, the home of Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the architect of the Paris massacre.  Unless he was on a “No Fly” list, Scott would be welcoming him to Florida with open arms.

Well, then it must then be that Syrians are more threatening than other refugees…say Cubans.

The latter group, just for showing up, gets a green card and welfare. While they overwhelmingly have been an A+ for America, some have proved to be thieves, terrorists and, in some cases, spies for Castro.

Of course, that applies to any and all immigrant groups.  So how come Syrians are being singled out by all those Republicans?

The answer is that Barack Obama is a Democrat and we are less than a year from elections.

After all, common sense tells you that if ISIS, Al Qaeda or any terrorist group was planning to send a terrorist to Florida, the last thing they would do is stick them in a refugee camp for two years of vetting. Especially when Florida tourism is spending millions repeating its tourist slogan of the 1960’S:

“Come on down”!

We have a colur blind n religious free government thru separation of church n state. I list an aunt n uncle – children of a US citizen- in the Holocaust with visa numbers to unite with their brothers here. Dont ask me to shut our doors to people fleeing Syria Afghanistan Iraq Mali Nigeria or Lebanon because of Moslem fanatic lunatics. CRemember the Great Ronald Reagan – Trust Verify then give Amnesty in the national interest! Or maybe its simpler – we are all G-d’s children?

This is not the first time this governor has been full of hot air. He takes claim for every job in the recovery which is ridiculous. It wasn’t like building, tourism and other businesses weren’t going to come back.

  4. Guayabera Wearing American says:

I think the Governor is just wanting the kind of foreigners that don’t strap bombs to themselves and blow themselves up kill hundreds of innocent people. Seems reasonable.

  5. Alanna Mersinger says:

First things first Governor Scott , you don’t have the legal authority to create immigration law, unless you have now taken over the Federal Government and assumed their powers, you can’t do it. Second the vetting process takes 18 to 24 months before someone is allowed in. As an aside, you don’t need to be vetted to get a tourist visa, so Gov how about those people. Do we keep them out also? Or is their money more important than your argument of trying to keep me safe? We have lost our collective minds or are we just so full of hate that people running for their lives is too tough for us to comprehend. I have heard floated that all Muslims should have to register with the Government. As a Jew, for some reason this sounds like something that was done already, can’t quite put my finger on it. Next we have people saying they should be moved into internment camps, again a very familiar ring. Now where have I heard these ideas before. With all our hate speech we are only fueling the fire for Daesh and getting them new recruits. I am equally concerned if not more with the Timothy McVeighs and Dyllan Roofs already here. Where is the legislation to stop them from hurting us? I know I will be disagreed with, and that is fine, after all this is America where we are all entitled to our opinions and the freedom to practice our own religions without fear of persecution.

  6. Zowie says:

If these refugees were carrying tens of millions of dollars to invest in his historically questionably legal businesses I’m sure the governor would be willing to risk a suicide bomber or two.

  7. Count LF Chodkiewicz Chudzikiewicz says:

I believe except for US Army Dr Hassan who the politically correct ignored as he increasingly became radicalized all the mass murders have been US born n bred White Protestant Males whose families were Mayflower or WASP types from the Mid West or all White Christian suburbs that dont rent to Blacks Hispanics Jews Asians or Moslems.
It is plain n simple Republican Right Wing Fundamentalist Christian biogotry to go beyond strengthing verification to the racist attitudes in the Republican Party like their refusal to let German zJews with relatives here to emigrate in substantial numbers. Dont give me the Republican lies FDR didnt want to lift visa quotas the Republicans lead by the Taft wing n Hoover n McCormick Press stymied lifting quotas unde Senate Filibuster Rules. Harassing women children n old men fleeing terrorists is Racism plain n simple! Cruz should be ashamed of himself along with Neal Cavuto n the Fox Clerical Fascists

  8. Howard the Moron says:

I think all the terrorists should move in with Sammy. That way they can kill his family first and the rest of the imbeciles can discuss how the terrorists are only “misguided youth”. Go over to the sandbox and see first hand what they do. Why do all you liberals insist on killing us?

  9. Floridan says:

This has little to do with real danger and almost everything to do with opposing whatever Obama supports.

Many of the same people who want to prevent Syrian refugees from entering the U.S. have been advocates for keeping Cuba on the terrorism list and, at the same time, allowing any Cuban who makes it to our shores to stay here as a legal immigrant.

  10. Sam The Sham says:

Here is what the governor could do. He could muster the State Troopers, FDLE and call out the Florida National Guard and physically stop the refugees from entering the state, whether by bus, train or plane.

He could shut down any not for profit that offers aid and comfort to the refugees. Even though they operate under federal 501c rules, they still need state authority to operate.

He could decertify any law enforcement agency that gives sanctuary.

He might even be able to remove from office any city or county official offering sanctuary.

Many of these things would result in lawyers like Sam Fields having a conniption fit and filing law suits. Any judgements could be ignored all the way to the USSC.

I have a question for all you self hating Americans out there. If I gave you a bottle of 100 aspirin and told you 99 pills were aspirin but one was cyanide, would you take any at all? The odds are greatly in your favor so why not?

    FROM BUDDY:

What you imagine is way beyond the abilities of state resources and a highly unwise response.

It would require checking every person who enters this state, including millions of legitimate tourists and Floridians who travel. What is going to stop a refugee from flying to Chicago and then traveling here by a domestic flight or even a Greyhound? Can you image the negative publicity that this tourist state, which spends millions annually to entice international visitors, would generate worldwide?

Since non–profits are chartered by the IRS, I doubt the state can “shut down” any.

You concede in this comment another disastrous result of your suggestions. A barrage of federal and state litigation would take place. For instance, the first day they stop an innocent legal resident or a Floridian by mistake, a lawsuit will occur. The only folks would who benefit would be attorneys.

  11. Chaz Stevens, MAOS says:

Well, quite obviously, we need to repeal the following:

    1. ObamaCare
    2. Anything to do with clean water
    3. Defund Planned Parenthood

Let’s do that! That will teach those ISIS bastards who they’re messing with.

Also, we need more guns. Preferably a bazooka in every pot.

To not allow the Syrian refugees into our country is just plain wrong. I agree w/ the President, we as a nation are better than this. I blame Ala Assad for all of this. I think Pres.Obama made a huge mistake a couple of years ago when he could have went after Assad and left it up to Congress to mak e the decision(he balked and assad walked to gas his own people-take Assad out and we will have peace in Syria.) This notion to let these refugees eat cake is wrong. We are all anchor babies. I am of European decent . My grandparents came over in the early 1900’s. I am not connecting to the Mayflower, nor was my family in the slave trade, but I and every one else that came over to this country is every bit an amercian(got that my perish white anglo saxon Protestants(no way Romney Rogers(comm/er Ft.lau-no way will First bapist church run Ft>lau you, their pawn-see you in 2yrs , bet heavy w/ Comm.Bruce Roberts, he is one of us for mayor) ). Also what I witnessed @ the county comm. this week w/ the rotation of mayor/vice. Living in district 4 we got the shaft. District 4 county commissioner Chip Lamarca deserved that chair(mayor). I don’t see county comm.Lamarca parent(s) pulling a gun on him. I don’t see county comm.chip lamarca ripping off medicare/Medicaid and having to pay back hundreds of thous. of dollars. I don’t see county comm. Chip Lamarca being under investigation w. the State atty. Off. I don’t see county comm. Chip Lamarca paying his admin ast. the lowest paid employee on the 4th floor(not until I heard about). I mean this is not the Amercian way. What just because Chip is a Republican we punish him, exclude him. No, this rotaion was wrong. No different than some of you stating these refugees are not worthy of being accepted in this country . Well County Comm. Chip Lamarca experienced the same BS, this week. (look for delegation from me on Dec8).(and Judy Stern(as much as I like you) your name is been brought up to me all week since my sources are telling me you orchestrated all of this-will see Shame on them…..

When we had the ebola scare, our own US citizens were not allowed in the state until they had gone through quarantine because they would have been a threat to the masses. Same difference. It shouldn’t have to be a state thing, it should be a national thing. How ignorant to think it is not a real problem, get your heads out of the sand.

  17. Sam The Sham says:

    “FROM BUDDY:

What you imagine is way beyond the abilities of state resources and a highly unwise response.”

What I imagine is a governor with a pair of balls and some leadership ability.

You would not need to check everyone coming into the state, only the federally chartered buses and planes full of refugees.

Push a few (anti refugee) laws through congress and voila, Fla Dept of State and Dept of Ag, and Consumer Services has complete control of any not for profit operating in the state who would aid the refugees.

I disagree that only the attorneys would profit. Every citizen would also by limiting refugees and asserting States Rights.

  19. A reader says:

The problem with taking in immigrants from Syria is there is no way to document their backgrounds. Who do you call in that country to verify claims?
The problem with taking in illegal immigrants from Mexico who are transported by trucks and trains and boats to the US border is that the taxpayers of the US must support them for years.
The problem with taking in the wannabe immigrants from Cuba, the thousands who are in shelters in Central America waiting to cross to the US from Mexico is that they will receive full benefits because Obama “forgot” to end the “wet-foot, dry foot” policy when he did his back room deal with the Castro brothers. Plus well documented journalism has recently proved rampant abuse of those full benefits by some in the Cuban population.
The problem with immigration abuse is that most of it is ILLEGAL. Without respect for the laws of a nation, division of that nation and failure of that nation occur.,
I have to show a driver’s license to see someone in the hospital. All legal immigrants must prove who they are. Illegal immigrants and any immigrant whose background cannot be ascertained should not be admitted to a state or our country.

  21. disgrunted says:

my dear allana, while you make cogent arguments as to your beliefs I am still bothered by a different view of reality. I agree myriad slaughters exist perpetrated by white males at schools, theaters etc. but are these not basically lone wolf attacks by people with no concurrent religious or political views. but why why why the multiple attempted or actual killings in the us, Europe, india, Pakistan, the middle east seem to have been committed by those with the same so called religious views. tel me my dear lady what is there in islam that seems to generate these atrocities…. I hope and pray it is not found in the belief itself although every day, with new examples by the so called radical islam of their utter disregard for human life im leaning more and more to the belief that this view not only exists but is a prevalent view in a form of islam. perhaps the true clash of civilizations is upon us, I hope not but im not so sure. they seem to base their views upon passages in either the quoran or the hadiths, written some 1500 hundred years ago by their prophet who at the end, married a 6 yeard old girl.

  22. Commissioner Angelo Castillo says:

    Dear Sham:

The goal of the terrorist is to take from us our way of life so that we may be as miserable as they are. Our state of liberty is what stands between us and their horrible lot in life. The terrorist need not take our liberty from us directly. He’s content with us giving it up voluntarily. He will take his win the easy way if we give it to him.

Now, I have read your post above and understand perfectly that your objective is to keep us safe. But I’d like to suggest that it has long been observed that those who trade liberty for safety deserve neither and likely end up with neither. I think that’s a Franklin quote and a very thoughtful one you might also agree.

Your analogy about 100 pills in a bottle is an interesting one. It suggests that unless we have 100% certainty of safety, the liberty we live by can’t work and must be amended. Well let’s examine that.

Shall we apply that same logic to the 2nd Amendment?

Shall we say that unless we’re 100% certain that a potential gun owner will act responsibly, they shall never be able to acquire a firearm? Couldn’t such a concept be stretched and misused in many directions, each resulting in the same outcome. Loss of liberty in an extreme attempt to protect it.

Don’t allow the terrorists to defeat us by making us defeat ourselves. There is only one solution to this dilemma.

We can be weak and choose to continue being bitten by these mosquitoes or we can swat them the hell out of existence once and for all. For living without our liberty is not worth it. What we must never do is stop being Americans for the very instant we do that, they win.

Now, those are very strong and serious words. We should be cautious of big talk. But if we just rationally take our time to think it through, in the end, given the nature of the enemy we’re dealing with, there’s only one rational conclusion we can reach.

By their own terms not ours, the outcome will be them or us and that choice is ours. They are prepared to strap bombs to themselves and give up their lives to kill as many of us as they can. Do you realize the degree of devotion, insane or otherwise, that it takes to do a thing like that? One cannot reason that desire and devotion away. One can only put that person down before they kill us. The entire free world must unite to do this by any means necessary and the longer this waits the more the terrorist will control the events of this world as they do right now.

I stand by us being free. I stand by us being Americans in every way. Alive but free and we cannot be Americans the way you describe. There are manageable risks associated with that. We may not turn our backs on innocent people seeking refuge in part because of the principles we stand for.

What you propose amounts to taking the poison. It is the very poison that the terrorist wants us to ingest and I will not be manipulated by that tactic.

Better to take them out first than give up who we are. For woe unto us if we do the latter. On that day, they win.

We’re as good as dead anyway.

What’s the point of being alive, of being an American if we’re going to live by their rules?

    Angelo

With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
