Democrat’s New Office Director Is Black Member of LGBT Political Group

BY BUDDY NEVINS

Mitch Ceasar may have a lot of shortcomings. But in the two decades he has run the county’s Democratic Party, he has never failed to reach out to the new groups that make up Broward’s political future.

Ceasar hit the diversity jackpot by appointing Michael Howson the party’s new director of the party’s office.

Howson is Africa-American and is tight with the LGBT political community.

Not only is Howson a director of one of the oldest and largest LGBT political club in Florida, the Dolphin Democrats of Fort Lauderdale.  He also is a member of the Broward County Democratic Black Caucus.

He helped register voters and train volunteers for Obama For President (OFA) two years ago.

The Party named him Volunteer of the Year earlier this year.

Now he will be running the party office as director, a paid position.

The 2% is doing very well these days, lots of Power.

I’ve had the chance to work with Michael recently. He’s a very nice guy and a very hard worker. He’ll be a wonderful Executive Director.

I also think that Tammy, the outgoing ED, deserves some major kudos. Managing the DEC can be very difficult and often contentious. She worked hard to keep things moving forward and was a great asset to the party.

Good choice. I wonder who Ceaser will sexually harass now.

    Maybe he switched parties.

Courts convict people and make them criminals not cowards hiding beyond false names on blogs. Unless Mr ceasar has been convicted of harassment – a crime – attacking him or anyone else is just pointless noise, and not bylined and edited articles in a responsible publication. Bloggers too much of the time act like five year olds with adult supervision

FYI – Word has it that Howard Forman was at Mayor Frank Ortis’ kick off party the other night and was telling everyone that he was not retiring and would be running for Clerk again.
