Update: Pics From The Judicial Robing Ceremony

BY BUDDY NEVINS

Below are more pictures from today’s judicial robing ceremony at the Broward County Courthouse.

Those being robed included Circuit Court Judges Dennis D. Bailey, John Patrick Contini and Stacey Schulman, who were elected last year. Also being robed is Edward H. Merrigan, Jr., a former county judge appointed to the circuit bench last year by Gov. Rick Scott.

The county judges being robed included Claudia Robinson, who won election in November. Also being robed are two former prosecutors — Kal Evans and Daniel J. Kanner, appointed by Scott last year.

Gisele Pollack

Former Judge Gisele Pollack, who resigned this month after being threatened with removal for drunken behavior on-and-off the bench.

Wayne Spath and Giselle Polack

Former Judge Pollack was sitting with Wayne Spath, veteran bail bondsman and a political power in the courthouse.

Finkelstein and demonstration

While the judges were being robed inside the courthouse, Public Defender Howard Finkelstein led a small demonstration in front of the building to demand the homeless arrested for minor crimes like public drunkenness, mostly by the City of Fort Lauderdale Police, be given legal representation at their first appearance in court.  Finkelstein contends many of these individuals are not given attorneys at these first appearances, which is when bond is set.

Then there’s this shot of Beer Pong Pollack in action.

Fabulous picture of the judges. The courthouse doesn’t have to be serious all of the time. If your work is like work, you are doing the wrong job.

  3. Courthouse Guru says:

Finkelstein is a major blow hard. The “demonstration” consisted of his own employees who were pressed into holding signs out of fear for their jobs. Defending the homeless in bond court is not a major issue. Finkelstein knows that if they are charged with a crime, they get counsel at a later appearance. The judge usually offers them time served anyway and they are out the door. This is all a bid by Finkelstein to get attention. Go to your office and do your job for a change instead of messing in judicial campaigns and trying to bully judges, Finkelstein.

Chaz the picture you showed shows your ignorance in all respects. Giselle had a rough time in the past and showerd her class by admitting to everything so why did you put a can of beer in her hand thru a photo type. Some times you say intelligent things and most times you show you are a total jerk and yes I am using my name if you want a follow up with me. Get a life idiot

  5. norman price says:

Buddy it seems you have friends like Chaz which is not his real name and yet because I am friends with Giselle you deleted my message so may I ask why. Was it becuse I defended Giselle but with him photo copying a beer in her hand is okey. I used to have respect for you but you showed me you do whatever you want

    FROM BUDDY:

Mr. Price, I don’t know what you are writing about. I have never deleted a comment you are submitted.

  6. norm price says:

Buddy I am sorry about what I wrote and the only reason was because I had checked back about a half hour later after posting and my post was not showing up at all so that is the reason for my message toward you.

    FROM BUDDY:

It sometimes takes me quite awhile to approve comments. I might be traveling or not at a computer. Or there are many other reasons why I don’t approve them immediately.

    Norm;

I preferred with you used the pen name “Dick.” That was much more appropriate.

Pollack deserves every drop of the ridicule, scorn, and derision that comes her way.

    And then some.

Everyone has “rough times,” however for most, that doesn’t include being fucked up on the bench, making decisions that affect the life and freedom of others.

Oh, and by the way, it’s Photoshop, not Phototype.

And as far as my name, for over 30 years, I’ve been called Chaz. Like your moniker Dick … I’m sure people have been calling you Dick for most of your adult life.

  8. Reliable Insight says:

Don’t you just love “Chaz” the alcoholic making fun of other alcoholics? Gotta love his empathy and compassion.Want another stone to throw “Chaz”?

  9. carol says:

I am a personal friend of Gisele Pollack, and I have never known a better, more outstanding person. She has a disease, and she is human. I would defend her to the utmost. She made some mistakes, as we all do, but she is honest, and takes responsibility for all of it, unlike some of the others who fell.

And to put a beer can in her hand….she doesn’t like beer, or drink it. But, I, for one, would definitely guarantee that she will never take another drop as long as she lives. I have spent a lot of time with her, and her level of integrity cannot be equaled. I resent highly what has been said about her; she deserves SO much more!

You are so rude and ignorant and yet even though you were a drunk you pretty much bragged about it and yet I am sure people like me try to help friends but I guess because you are a total idiot with your curse words that people don’t prefer to see the real satanic and athiest side of you which you also brag about.Unlike you if a friend is in need of help I am always there for them so in short quit acting like a total jerk

  11. Chaz Stevens, I am Festivus says:

I crack up when people refer to me as both a satanist and an atheist! Are you just putting words together? Do you understand the meaning of either of them?

As far as me being a drunk… Wrong, I was both a drunk and a druggie. No specialist here, I was a generalist when it came to getting wasted.

Do I brag about being a drunk? Well, I brag about running with the bulls in Pamplona three sheets to the wind. But, that’s not the point.

Being an alcoholic doesn’t mean someone is a bad person, just means someone is a sick person.

What kid would say growing “I hope to become a Broward County Judge who swills down Mexican Car Bombs for breakfast and then drives to work playing Frogger with other people, cars, and the occasional pole.”

Life just happens, you fix it, and move on. Don’t feel sorry for me because I couldn’t get my shit together. And don’t throw me a party when I learn to act “normal.”

You are right, I have zero compassion for an individual who can’t get their shit together while administering JUSTICE FROM THE BENCH. Imagine those who were sentenced by this drunk … imagine how pleased they must be…

What’s next? Giving a cardiologist a break cause s/he has a few martinis before surgery? Knee bone connected to the what again?

To the point about putting a PBR in her hand, if you know anything about my schtick, then a PRB would make total sense.

I’ve heard it said “you don’t get ’em drunk and you don’t get ’em sober,” so unless you are Beer Pong Pollack, that statement is a perfect example of hubris.

Lastly, as to me being a jerk, allow me to retort … how many “L’s” are there in the word ‘trolling’?

    A troll awaits your reply.

  12. Chaz Stevens, I am Festivus says:

Editor’s Note: Please Buddy, don’t delete this duplicative comment — it’s a Public Service.

I also created this version for norm price who seems confused by the whole “enter key technology”.

    Enjoy!

  13. Pity Party Pooper says:

Sorry to be brutally honest but as someone who as been at the public events Pollack has shown up to lately, with her apologists in tow, she reeks of desperation for the hugs and slaps on the back saying how awful it is to lose her from the bench. She looks like the typical ex poll, who still seeks the extra recognition and attention that comes with being a Judge

I hear she got a job at the PD’s office and I hope it works out for her there.

On the other side it would probably serve her best to lay low, get back to normal 9-5 existence and show she can maintain sobriety instead of going to public events and having photos of yourself all over facebook.

I think my words calling you an athiest and a satanic believer will be easily explained from these 2 articles and I normally don’t curse I will call you a fat ignorant asshoe who if I am correct IRS has nailed you a few times

I accidently used the same article twice this is the one that this fat idiot questioned me about Satanic and also I omitted the L in what I called you a assho-e becaue unlike you as I stated I rarely curse and with your background have you ever worked or do you live on food stamps and other benefits that some lowlifes like you live

  16. Chaz Stevens, I am Festivus says:

    Norm;

    Thank you.

No really, you won’t understand why I am thanking you, but really, thank you.

  17. Chaz Stevens, I am Festivus says:

No Norm, I don’t work… I exist merely to irritate you.

Street Cred + a fantastic sense of humor = Chaz Stevens…..keep the hits coming my friend!!!

  19. Mommie says:

Maybe Finklestein should worry more about the actual people his office is supposed to represent. They languish in jail or are forced to show up for tons of hearings without adequate representation. It’s a travesty and he knows it! These are the invisible poor. Representation is a joke.
