Ken Keechl’s One-Month Fund Raising Bonanza!!!! Still Long Way To Go In Fight For Fla House

Former Broward County Commissioner Ken Keechl crushed state Rep. George Moraitis Jr. in fund raising in April.
But Keechl still has a long way to go.

A Republican holding Florida House District 93, Moraitis has $93,348 in donations. The state representative raised just $3,700 in April.
Keechl, a Democrat, topped Moraitis big time last month. He raised $21,198 in April, which was the start of his campaign.
So the total to now is:
Keechl — $21,348.
Moraitis — $93,348.
Keechl remains way behind.
Whether Keechl, can keep up his April fund raising pace is problematic. Some donors may be getting tired of contributing to his campaigns since he lost three county commission races in a row – 2010, 2012 and 2014.
Also working against Keechl: many of his past commission contributors do no business in Tallahassee.
Looming over the horizon are state Republicans. If GOP interests see Moraitis in trouble, they will step of fund raising. State GOP interests don’t want to lose Moraitis seat.
The notable names on Keechl’s first contribution list include his partner, Realtor Teddy Adcock, who gave $1,000. Also donating money is Yellow Cab Limousine Service ($1,000), former Tallahassee Mayor Scott Maddox, Fort Lauderdale Commissioner Dean Trantalis ($200) and former County Commissioner Ilene Lieberman ($118), who used her married name Michelson.
District 93 runs from Dania Beach north to the Broward County boundary and into southern Boca Raton mostly east of North Andrews Avenue.
It is the rare Broward House district with Republican majority – 42,555 Republicans to 40,236 Democrats and 28,829 independents.
Although Mitt Romney won the district in the last presidential election, Keechl supporters are hoping that Republicans and independents dislike Donald Trump so much that they will vote Democrat down ballot.
Maybe.
Florida House District 93 contains only a smattering of minority voters – 95,140 whites to 4,401 black and 9,045 Hispanic. And it has roughly 2,600 more male voters than women.
Trump’s support has been strong among white men.

Could that work in Trump (and Moraitis’) favor? Will women abandon Trump in such droves that they reject the entire R ticket?

I never met Commissioner Keechl but when he & Commissioner Charlotte Rodstrom ran against each other they split the Ft Lauderdale vote n we lost the traditional Ft Lauderdale seat on the County Commussion to Dania Beach. Both Commissioners Keechl and Rodstrom have run in County Districts they didnt luve in and lost. Frankly they are both being jokes like Harokd Stassen n Ralph Nader.

Buddy, District 93 doesn’t go into Boca anymore. It’s entirely within Broward. You are thinking of the old district prior to redistricting in 2012.

Why has Lieberman suddenly started using her married name? She has been married for almost 20 years. Does she routinely use that name, or just when she wants to hide her identity on campaign finance reports.

She has used the Michelson name some of the time and the Lieberman name other times since her marriage. Now that she is not an elected official, I am told that she is using the Michelson name almost exclusively. Her law license with the Florida Bar is in the Michelson name.

So now Ken Keechl can buy more expensive dinners and pay inflated rent to his domestic partner for “office space”
Don’t take my word for it. Look at expenditure reports from his past campaigns.

Speaking of names, Ilene should not be known by LIEberman or Michelson, but in all rights should be called by a prisoner number.

Commissioner Keechl will continue to run as well Commissioner Charlotte Rodstrom as long as this or that political consultant can get paid because they lean on friends natural desire not to alienate people over a 250 or 50 dollar political donation. Who wants to tell someone they know socially or in business they cant win? That’s tough love few have the stomach for.
