Fields: Birthin’ Babies GOP Style

With the Republican crazies in charge in Tallahassee, it’s open season on a woman’s right to control her own body.

Life begins at inception and ends at birth.  Cutting every pre- and post-natal program to assist the newborn, it is clear that the GOP credo is:Get’em born and then fuhgeddaboudit.

One Republican proposal would require that any pregnant woman, who contemplates an abortion, be required to wait three days and get an ultrasound at her own expense?

The thought behind this one is that no woman, if she has any kind of conscience, will get an abortion once she sees the fetus in the ultrasound.

GOP Should Give Woman All The Information About Babies!

Why should the GOP stop at educating only women contemplating an abortion?  Why not teach all women the impact of having a child?

The first thing that should be required by the Legislature is for potential Moms to go to www.babycenter.com and find out what that first year of parenting will do to their wallet.

A Middle Class family is on the hook for at least a cool $300k before the little tike is out of the house.  This assumes that you have a happy and healthy child.

If the Republican’s repeal Obamacare, which prohibits insurance companies from excluding pre-existing conditions, the average family with a handicapped child is screwed, blued and tattooed.

Now I know what you are thinking what about Medicaid?

No problem.  Once Mom has spent every dime treating a myriad of birth defects she will have no choice but to join the poor.

Abortion Equals Safe Streets

The next thing that should be required by Tallahassee is for prospective Moms to answer the following question: Do you like safe streets?

If she answers in the affirmative,  she is going to love Roe v Wade.

During the 1980’s crack epidemic, we were warned that that the 1990’s were going to breed a race of super criminals that would make Clockwork Orange look like The Amish.

Never happened.  Crime, particularly violent crime, was cut by half.

Professors Steven Levitt and John Donohue, authors of the multi-year bestseller Freakonomics, say the main factor was Roe v Wade. An excerpt is here.

Roe v Wade allowed women to terminate unwanted babies—a significant source of future thugs.

I will not bore you with the details. Suffice it to say that their detailed analysis showed that in 1992, eighteen years after Roe, crime went down and has continued to drop.

States that had legalized abortion earlier–NY, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington and California–experienced the drop earlier and directly in line with their legalization.

So let’s make sure that any new abortion law from Tallahassee requires  pregnant moms to know their unwanted baby could be a future Crip, Blood, Hell’s Angel, Mexican Mafia or some other criminal scum.

There is so much more that Republicans should tell future moms.  Things like the GOP plan to eliminate Florida’s low-cost college education, not to mention Bright Future’s scholarship’s for high achievers.  That’s going to drive up the future choice of raising a child.

How about the environmental impact of over-population? Not to mention contributing to the scarcity of resources that leads to war.

Yes, if we want to use the power of the state to explain babies to pregnant women let’s give them the Big Picture.

After all, as they say on FOX, we want to be “fair and balanced”.

How about the fact that the ones who are steamrolling all this are MALES? When are women going to wake up and get active?

  2. Floridan says:

There’s probably a 100 percent correlation between those who want to require pregnant women to purchase a ultrasound and those who think requiring people to purchase health insurance is unconstitutional.

Abortion is murder. It is as simple as that.

    Mister Courthouse,
While you are at the courthouse, look up the law.
