Doc: “Good Results” From Alu Cancer Operation

Sheila Alu’s cancer surgeon told Channel 4’s Ted Scouten in a report broadcast Monday that her operation for colon cancer went well.
“We were able to remove the entire tumor there was nothing we left behind,” Dr. Laurence Sands from the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center told Scouten. “From a surgical perspective she’s having extremely good results.”
Alu’s operation was Friday, April 26 at the UM/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in Miami.
A former City of Sunrise commissioner and a sex crime prosecutor, Alu, 50, discovered just weeks ago she had advanced colon cancer.
Since the diagnosis, Alu has been encouraging people to get early colonoscopies.
