Billy Graham’s Support of Mitt Not Based On Bible

BY SAM FIELDS

The Rev. Billy Graham is running ads across the country imploring voters to “cast our ballots for candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles” which he claims are anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage.

Is it that he is 94-years-old and loosing it or is just that he has never bothered to actually read the Bible?

Anyone who has read the Bible knows it says nothing of the kind about opposing abortion and is all over the place about marriage.

There are at least a dozen or so passages of the Bible endorsing abortion.  My favorite is Genesis 38:24 which calls for burning alive unmarried pregnant women.

Frankly, that should appeal to Republicans who want to cut down the cost of welfare!

As for marriage, the Bible endorses polygamy, concubines, incest (check out Lot and his daughter) as well as one man and one woman

What’s most absurd about using the Bible to pick a Prez is what the Bible does NOT say.

It says nothing supporting democracy or representative government.

The Old Testament is all about kings and dictators.  Some are good and some are bad.  There is nothing suggesting there is anything wrong with the non-democratic system that repeatedly gets them into power.

The New Testament is totally silent on the topic of any type of government.  The strongest argument is that Jesus’ “render unto Caesar” comment is an acceptance, if not and endorsement, of Emperors and tyrants.

So when you examine the facts what conclusion can you draw about Graham?  His love of the GOP exceeds his knowledge of The Bible and his love of his God.

Sam, your unbelievable statement, “His love of the GOP exceeds his knowledge of The Bible and his love of his God,” crosses a line into pure stupidity. I am very surprised Buddy published it. I would say that your knowledge of Christianity, which Graham represents, and the Bible and History itself would not stand any sort of academic or theological test. And I believe that a man who has preached the “Word” for 70 years has a little more knowledge of our faith, its practices, belief and traditions than a anti-christian person, such as yourself. I am deeply offended, but of course that was your objective wasn’t it.

    FROM BUDDY:

Sam, of all people, should know that the Bible is like a book of statutes — open to various interpretations. His interpretation did not come down from Mount Sinai.
That said, I publish him because he has his supporters. Some enjoy his diatribes.

What now Sam? was Mother Theresa a Nazi? The Dalai Lama a cannibal?

  3. Lois says:

Sam, please, just go away. I am certain that ALL of us, no matter our religious, political, etc. philosophy, are sick to death of your pompous, condescending, judgmental rants. Seriously, you have a problem and should seek help.

  4. Akin & Mourdock says:

Indiana Republican U.S. Senate candidate Richard Mourdock recently commented that pregnancies resulting from rape are “something God intended to happen” – and Mitt Romney is still supporting Mourdock. Mourdock is even running TV spots in which Romney is saying he supports Mourdock. The National Republican Senatorial Committee will spend $5 million supporting Mourdock, and Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPS group is expected to spend another $4 million in support of Mourdock.

Todd Akin, the Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Missouri, recently claimed that “If [a rape] is a legitimate rape the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.” Medically false, and many women who became pregnant from rape have hastened to explain this to Akin. But Republican Senator Jim DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund (leadership PAC) is still supporting Akin.

    And from the Bible:

Death to the Rape Victim (Deuteronomy 22:23-24 NAB)

If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife.

I love these folks who quote the Bible like it is a math book. Religiously illiterate that continaually make fools of themselves.

  6. Chaz Stevens, Genius says:

    @Akin.

    I’ll do you one better.

    4) Laws of Rape (Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT)

If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

What kind of lunatic would make a rape victim marry her attacker? Answer: Christ H. Christ On A Crutch The View Of The City From The Cross Is Amazing

I’ve read the bible and *lots* of books about arithmetic.

The first six comments are the perfect storm of those who comment on my writings.

ThOse who support me will, like me, quote the Bible to support their position.

Those who attack me confine themselves to CHILDISH name calling and a demand that Buddy censor my writings.

I have said it before and I will say it again: “Religious conservatives don’t believe what the Bible says; they are just convinced that the Bible says what they believe.”

As for Christine’s so-called wry comments about Mother…..r Theresa and Hello Dalai I have already written about these two frauds.

No MT was not a Nazi but she clearly was an anti-democratic lover of dictatorships as evidenced by her ties to Duvalier regime in Haiti and her 1990 laying a wreath at the grave of Enver Hoxha the fascist/Communist dictator of her home country of Albania.

Did I forget to mention that she refused to return the criminal contributions of bank fraudster Charles Keating.

Don’t get me started on that evil dwarf.
